The Training and Placement cell of NIT Sikkim works as the official mediator between the companies and students. The Cell of the Institute invites industry and academia to be its partners. The zealous students of NIT Sikkim have been successfully placed at famous companies such as Bharat Electronics Limited, Airports Authority of India, Intel Corporation, Power Grid, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Microsoft, Intel, BEL, Power Grid and many other.
In order to get recruited, students have to log in to the portal of the Training and Placement cell of NIT Sikkim. Students are then required to submit their resumes for desired companies. The selection process involves going through written tests followed by Interview rounds or Group Discussions. This totally depends upon the recruitment method of the companies.
The TnP Cell of NIT Sikkim does not only organises campus placement opportunities for their students but also provide them internships. In fact, it makes sure that every student has at least an internship experience of two months. The Cell tries to achieve a 100 per cent placement record every year.
Internships at National Institute of Technology Sikkim, provide opportunities for students to gain experience in their discipline, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, and create a network of contacts. Students take up internships in a variety of sectors such as Core, Consulting, Finance, FMCG's, Analytics, IT, NGO's and Government Institutions. Students interested in research take research internships in various Indian and foreign universities and organizations. Some of the organizations in which the students of NIT Sikkim have done their internships were IBM, Wipro, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, L&T Constructions, Hewlett Packard, Reliance Jio etc. Such industrial activity provides students with adequate exposure in tackling real-life problems encountered in the working of an industrial entity.
