IIT GuwahatiNIT Sikkim and IIT Guwahati have come closer on various spheres. The long informal relationship of two sister institutes from North East was materialised into strong academic bonding when IIT G and NIT Sikkim signed an MoU for research and development. The MoU provides various opportunities for the growing institute which includes:
In its pursuit of academic excellence, NIT Sikkim is thriving hard for setting up ever new milestones of success. It was always felt by the higher ups and the faculty members that we should have a strong bonding with one of the most prestigious and recognised institutes. Therefore, NIT Sikkim collaborated with IIT KGP for various academic pursuits which includes the following:
Overall: National institute of technology Sikkim fails to provide many facilities as nit student should have for its temporary campus . the temporary campus is really congested in 20 acre area . All the higher authorities are saying that the permanent campus will be made after 3 years minimum from this year at that time i will be graduated alumina . You can take admission in this college if you want a nit tag with low rank otherwise you can prepare one year more take drop and avoid these northeast colleges and some good things about our campus is college experience is good because of the surrounding hills and mountains . you will love the sun rises in winter season here the temperature is kind of cold side normally but in winters the temperature goes below 0 at night.
Placement: The college is being an Nit does not have good placement as it lies in tier 3 college category .honestly The placements are not satisfactory for the college but earlier our college had kind a ok placement rate now it is decreasing for the computer science engineering branch and the details had been updated for 2023 it shows 83 percent and the median is 8 lpa and for the Computer science engineering the highest lpa was 18 lpa and overall highest package was 44 lpa from nvdia . Very few mnc's have come to this collage but if you work hard you can get private jobs from this college
Infrastructure: Not a good campus the some of the departments lab class rooms are not even ready right now for some branches like civil and mechanical the other departmental class rooms are ok with the max 40 people sitter room when you will join you will get 50 people sitter class rooms for the first year there will be mixed branched students take this aside you will manage to live there because of the surrounding only the hills mountain and The campus is not permanent right now as and it is being told that the permanent campus will be made but the work is not even started there is no proper canteen for students the canteen we have is made of tin and we are requesting director sir for the canteen to be reconstructed but nothing is going on the ground is not big as remote are we have small cricket and food ground and one basket ball ground . The gym is not in good condition and not available for the 1st year as they are staying in the market 2km away
Faculty: The faculties are the only good thing in this college majority of the teacher are from West bengal majority of teachers are good and well educated and if you give them respect you will get respect from them too some of the teacher you may not like for their strict nature our sourav sir,dt sir, ranjan sir they are little strict other teacher are very chill personally cse teacher pratayay sir he is a gem teacher . The faculties are really helpful if you have any questions you can ask them personally they are very supportive .
Hostel: In first year you will get 3 sitter room in ravangla market (oh1) 2 km away from the main campus here some water and electric problems may arise the rooms are not made for the cold environment like ranvangla . to go to the campus the bus will be provided for some time periods only and From the second year you will be shifted inside the college campus to the BH - 2 hostel that will be having 5 sitter room so the person who like to be alone would not like this. The hostel life experience is really fun you will remember these hostel life in every college you go because of the friends you will make for the foods i think the foods are average some they provided below average food for which there were protest against it.From our hostel there are no stationary shops so you have to go to the market for the note books that is the one of the worst thing . there are some fast food dukans they are close outside the campus where majority of the student goes for the tea and other foods .
Overall: Awesome college overall very beautifull campus .very much greenery around the college .established on hill side .ver good academics.very good facilities at Indore sports .a very good college to be a part of .
Placement: Good placement session this year .not all but a huge amount of graduates were placed .very good placements at CSe and other branches .many students placed over 12 lpa package .
Infrastructure: College is situated at maintain place . You have to walk some inclinations to reach one depart to other depart . To much greenery overall the year but snow around the winters and overall good building blocks and infrastructure .
Faculty: Awesome teachers . Some PhD holders.awesome skills at their departments .no hesitation in conversation with the students or parents .very supportive and very humble .never disappoints you as a faculty member.
Hostel: Hostel is located within the campus area .several buildings of hostels are present .mainly they were of 5 to 6 floors .no lift facilities is present you have to go through the stairs .
Overall: NIT Sikkim maintains high academic standards, with dedicated faculty members who are both knowledgeable and approachable.A vibrant atmosphere with a diverse range of clubs and events ensures an active and inclusive campus life. With a few areas for improvement,it remains a commendable choice for those seeking a well-rounded college experience.
Placement: NIT Sikkim offers a wide array of placement options across various industries, catering to diverse academic disciplines. NIT Sikkim's placement efforts show promise, with potential for improvement through targeted enhancements and stragetic collaborations.
Infrastructure: NIT Sikkim's infrastructure is a mixed bag, presenting both strengths and areas that need attention. Certain areas, especially in older buildings, lack accessibility features, posing challenges for students with mobility issues.
Faculty: Professors are approachable, encouraging students to seek clarification and engage in meaningful discussions both in and outside the classroom. The faculty at NIT Sikkim plays an pivotal and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
Hostel: Despite some challenges like limited capacity, and cleanlliness problem, the hostel at NIT Sikkim provides a welcoming and secure environment for students, contributing to a positive overall college experience.
