GATE 2026 Admit Card Postponed: IIT Guwahati to soon update applicants on new date

IIT Guwahati has officially confirmed that the 'release of GATE 2026 admit card has been postponed and the new date shall be notified soon'. The admit card was supposed to be released on January 2, but the release has now been postponed. While IIT Guwahati has not stated an official release for the delay in releasing admit cards, it can be assumed that exam centres allotment and preparing admit cards for almost 8 lakh applicants could be time-consuming. There is no change in the GATE 2026 exam date, which is scheduled to be conducted from February 7 onwards.

This is not the first time that the release of the GATE admit card has been delayed. In 2025, the admit card was supposed to be released on January 2, but was delayed till January 7. However, there was no delay in 2024, but the admit card was delayed by 6 days in 2023. Therefore, a delay in releasing the admit card is quite common over the years. Sometimes, the delay of the admit card could be due to either technical reasons or additional time taken by the exam authority to allocate the exam centres. The applicants need not worry about the delay and wait for an official update on the GATE 2026 admit card.

Recently, CollegeDekho interacted with a CSE subject expert of GATE for insights on the GATE 2026 CSE difficulty level . This year, tthe he CSE paper is expected to be 'Moderate', and the test takers must be thorough with B.Tech syllabus.

Dear student,

For admission to RTU Kota you will need to register for REAP counselling. It is based on JEE Main score and class 12 score. During REAP counselling, merit lists are released based on the scores obtained by the applicants. If you are allotted RTU Kota then you can proceed with the admission process. For RTU Kota admission to BTech in Civil Engineering or any other specialisation, there is no separate cutoff. If you belong to the general category, then you need to obtain the 90.7788642 percentile in JEE Main to apply for REAP.
