One of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (PPP) in the nation, the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AGARTALA (IIIT-AGARTALA) was founded with the aim of providing facilities for advanced study, research, and training in a variety of information technology-related subjects.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, plans to establish twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis to address the issues the Indian IT industry is facing and the expansion of the domestic IT market.
