Ranchi University PG courses are offered to the interested candidates in the stream of arts, commerce, science, engineering, management, law, medicine & surgery and more. Some of the popular PG courses available at Ranchi University are MA Philosophy, MA Political Science, M.Com, M.Tech Environmental Engineering, M.Tech Manufacturing Engineering, MD Psychiatry, MS, M.Sc Geology, M.Sc Zoology, MBA, MCA and more. 

The duration of the MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, etc. courses is 2 years but the duration of the MD & MS courses is 3 years. The annual fee structure for the PG courses at Ranchi University ranges between Rs 4,818 and Rs 1,50,000 (approx).

Ranchi University admission is offered for various certificate, diploma, undergraduate, PG diploma, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. To become eligible for UG courses, candidates must have passed class 12 from a recognised board with a minimum of 40-50% marks in the relevant stream. To become eligible for the PG courses, candidates must have a graduate degree in the relevant stream from a recognised university. Admission to the BA, B.Sc, B.Com, etc. courses is offered on the basis of CUET UG and admission to M.Sc, MA, M.Com & more courses is provided based on performance in CUET PG. Apart from this, JEE Main score is accepted for admission to B.Tech courses and GATE is accepted for M.Tech admission. NEET UG is accepted for MBBS/BDS and NEET PG is accepted for admission to MD/MS. Admission to MBA is carried out on the basis of CAT, MAT, CMAT, and ATMA.

Ranchi University placements are conducted by a dedicated placement cell which was established in the year 2010. It prepares the students to get placed in various institutions and organisations. The faculty members of the university work actively in association with the cell to conduct workshops, seminars, placement mocks, trade fairs and more throughout the year. These activities help the students to understand the recent trends among the recruiters. Some of the top recruiters who participate in the placement drive are HDFC Bank, Magma Fincorp, Dainik Bhaskar, Thyrocare, Genpact, Wipro, etc. The university has released the placement data for 2023 in the NIRF 2024 report for the benefit of the students.

Ranchi University campus is spread over an area of 71 acres at Ranchi, Jharkhand. Campus life

The campus life at the university is very happening. The canteen is one of the busiest places on campus. We can get a variety of cuisines here that are prepared hygienically every day. The central library of the university has more than 90000 textbooks, 10000 reference books, and nearly 350 theses for PhD. There is also a fully operational INFLIBNET facility (connected through a dedicated lease line to INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmadabad) which makes the library a happening place. 

Sports life

The sports complex of Ranchi University comprises of basketball court, volleyball court, ground to play football and cricket and more. The students participate in various competitions at zonal, district, state and national levels regularly. 

Hostel life

There are 2 boys' hostels and 1 girl’s hostel at the Ranchi University. The capacity of the boy’s hostels is 210 and the capacity of girl’s hostel is 60. The rooms are available for single and triple sharing. Residential facilities for the faculty members and non-teaching members are also available at the university.

Department of Mines & Geology, Government of Jharkhand has collaborated with the Geology Department of Ranchi University.

Ranchi University scholarships are offered to the meritorious as well as economically backward students of the university. To avail the scholarships, interested candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the university. The university offers many national as well as state - level scholarships to the students. 

National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students

This scholarship is provided by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for financial assistance for meritorious ST students for pursuing higher education. It supports students who are pursuing UG, PG, M.Phil and PhD degree from the Indian universities.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students

It is a merit-cum-means scholarship programme which is offered by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. A sum of Rs 12,000 per year is given for undergraduate studies (first three years). A total of Rs 20,000 per year is given for postgraduate students. And up to Rs 20,000 per year is provided for the students of fourth and fifth year of professional courses.
