There are two RIMS Ranchi undergraduate courses: Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and  Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). For RIMS Ranchi BDS admission, students must have passed Class 12 with physics, chemistry and biology from a recognised board. For RIMS Ranchi MBBS and BDS admission, National Testing Agency must clear the NEET UG examination.

• Candidates must meet the RIMS Ranchi eligibility criteria and appear for NEET UG.
• Students must meet the NEET cutoff and register for NEET counselling conducted by the JCECE board.
• Students then need to register for the Jharkhand NEET counselling from the JCECE official website to fill out choices of colleges.
• Students who wish to be admitted to RIMS Ranchi UG courses should select Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi for MBBS and Dental Institute, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi for BDS as the first choice.
• Colleges are allotted to candidates based on choice and RIMS Ranchi NEET scores.
• Once RIMS Ranchi is allotted, visit the campus. The entire RIMS Ranchi admission procedure is carried out in offline mode.
• Complete the RIMS Rachi admission process by paying course fees and submitting required documents.

RIMS Ranchi offers a total of 26 programmes at the postgraduate level. A few RIMS Ranchi PG courses are PG Diploma in Child Health, MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology, MD Anesthesiology etc. The duration of all RIMS Ranchi PG diploma courses is two years. On the other hand, RIMS Ranchi MD and MS courses are three years long.

• Students willing to be admitted in the RIMS Ranchi PG programme are required to sit for NEET PG and obtain a valid score.
• Students must meet the Jharkhand NEET PG cutoff released by the National Board of Examination (NBE)
• Students who meet the RIMS NEET PG cutoff for MD and MS need to register for NEET PG counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
• They will have to visit MCC's official website and register by choice, NEET scores etc.
• Then, candidates are allotted colleges based on students’ NEET PG scores and choice filled.
• To complete the RIMS Ranchi admission procedure, selected students must visit the institute’s campus. The entire RIMS Ranchi admission procedure will now be carried offline.
• The final step is documents and programme fees submission.
