Overview

Manchester University is the largest single-site university in the UK that has the biggest student community. The current form of the university was created only in 2004 after the union of the University of Manchester of Science and Technology (UMIST) and the Victoria University of Manchester. There are 25 Nobel Prize recipients included in the staggering alumni list of the university. The Academic Ranking of World Universities places the university at the 36th position in the world and 5th in the UK. As per QSRankings, theuniversity is currently positioned as the 6th best university in the UK and the 27th best in the world. With 83%of its research regarded as excellent or world-leading by the RERA, the University of Manchester is known to delivera high research output.

Manchester University offers more than 1,000 degree programmes across a diverse array of disciplines including Business, Engineering, Sciences and Humanities. It not only offers bachelors degrees, masters degrees, MBAs and PhDs but also Foundation programmes to help international students meet the academic and English language requirements of the University of Manchester. All programmes offered by the University of Manchester are divided into four faculties: the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences; Faculty of Life Sciences; Faculty of Humanities; Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences. The admission process of Manchester University varies according to the courses one wishes to take. However, there are some common application procedures that international students are required to follow in order to ensure their admission to Manchester University:

Manchester University Scholarships

Global Futures Scholarship

The University of Manchester is offering over £1.7 million worth of awards to international students. The University of Manchester is accepting applications for its scholarship program, which will run from September 2022 to September 2021.

  • The Global Futures scholarships are granted depending on academic excellence and the responses to the questions that you submit online.

  • The scholarships are available to students from South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. 

  • They are awarded up to GBP5,000 for the first year and another GBP5,000 for the second year.

  • These scholarships are awarded in the form of a discount against the published tuition fees.

Master’s Awards

  • These scholarships are available to students from countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Students must submit their application before the end of the year to be considered.

  • Up to 80 awards of £6,000 will be given to students based on their academic excellence and responses to the online application form. 

  • The quality of the responses and academic excellence of the applicants are also taken into account to determine the awards.

GREAT Scholarships 

  • The University of Manchester is working with the GREAT Britain Campaign and British Council to offer scholarships to students from India for one-year master's programs. 

  • For the academic year 2022-23, students from India can receive a scholarship of £10,00 towards their tuition fees.

The Manchester Science and Engineering International Excellence scholarships

  • The International Engineering and Science scholarships are offered to Indian students. 

  • The scholarships for Indian students are worth £3,000 a year.

British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM

The British Council along with the University of Manchester has supported five fully-funded scholarships for women students in the science discipline from various countries, including India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
