A public institution founded in 1957, CSU East Bay is part of the California State University higher education system, the largest public education system in the USA. It is also known as Cal State East Bay or CSUEB. The main campus of Cal State East Bay is located in Hayward. Other locations are Concord and Oakland in California, United States. Cal State, East Bays academic affiliation is to California State University. The Princeton Review recognises CSU East Bay as the Best Business Schools of 2020. It is also ranked No. 95 in the list of 2019 Top Colleges in the West.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

CSUEB has our colleges- College of Business and Economics, College of Education and Allied Sciences, College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, and College of Sciences. The university campus is spread across three locations. The undergraduate programmes are available at the Hayward and Concord campuses while postgraduate programmes are limited to the Hayward campus. Professional degree programmes and continuing education courses can be taken up at the Oakland campus. A wide range of academic degrees and programmes offered at CSUEB include 49 bachelors and 24 masters degrees programmes. Some of the most popular courses offered at CSUEB include Business Administration, Business Analytics, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Public Administration and Sociology. The institution is also known for its range of online programmes.

Scholarships For International Students at California State University East Bay

Only the merit-based scholarships available at California State University, East Bay are open for international students. Some of these are given below.

Global Excellence Scholarship

Offered to international students who have demonstrated excellent scholastic and academic abilities, by submitting their secondary education or standardized test scores.
Value: Non-Resident Fee Waiver for 15-18 hours each semester

Eligibility: Candidate must:

  • Be an F-1 student
  • Maintain a 3.3 GPA

Associated Students Inc. (ASI) ACADEMIC BASED Scholarship

Merit-based scholarship offered to international students with full-time enrollment in undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes.
Value: $1,000 (divided into $500 for Fall and Winter terms)
Deadline: 31st Jan
Eligibility: Candidate must:

  • Have a minimum CGPA of 3.0
  • Be enrolled full-time in the next Fall and Spring Semesters
  • Provide one Letter of Recommendation
  • Submit an essay on a candidate’s leadership contribution to and reason for wanting to graduate from CSUEB

Dr John B Tsu Memorial Scholarship

One student from each of the four colleges is offered a Dr John B. Tsu Memorial Scholarship. Students who display good character and have served in support of the community will be eligible for the scholarship.
Value: $1,500
Deadline: 11th November
Eligibility: Candidates should:

  • Be a student with the College of Education and Allied Health Sciences
  • Be a full-time student
  • Secure a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Submit a 300-word essay outlining his/her financial needs and their current participation in the community. 
  1. They should also explain their intention of giving back to the community after graduation. 
  2. They must also convey the understanding that the scholarship has been generated through a philanthropic gift with the intent that its recipients consider providing similar support to the university at a point in time when they are capable.

Cherrie Nanninga Scholarship for the Promotion of Women in STEM

The scholarship is provided with the intent that the recipient is able to motivate and encourage women to take up STEM education across the globe.
Value: $1,000
Deadline: January 31st
Eligibility: Candidates must:

  • Have obtained a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Be a Junior in the respective Fall session in the College of Science
  • Be majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Geology, Biochemistry, Health Sciences, Construction Management, Statistics, Biology, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry
  • Present an essay of 300-500 words outlining the necessity of the scholarship in building their career in STEM. They must also explain how they will be able to promote, advance and inspire in the field of STEM.
