Vikas College of Engineering & Technology was established in the year 2008 in Vijayawada of Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. The institute is founded by Sri N. Narsi Reddy with a vision of providing high-quality education to rural students. 

The college provides education in almost all the areas of study such as diploma courses, degree courses, and PG courses in B.Ed, D.Ed, D.Pharmacy, B. Pharmacy, Polytechnic and MBA. The institute offers B.Tech and M.Tech programmes for almost all the specialisations of CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, and M.Tech such as CSE, ECE, EEE, MECHANICAL, and M.B.A.

This institute strives to make quality education affordable to its students through its up-gradation of standards and curriculum which matches best with the current requirements. The Vikas College of Engineering & Technology courses is clubbed into eight departments. It includes Civil Engineering (CE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Science & Humanities (S&H), Agricultural Engineering (AGRI), and Master of Business Administration (MBA). Vikas College of Engineering & Technology admissions is done based on entrance exams like AP POLYCET for diploma courses, EAMCET for B.Tech courses, PGECET/GATE for M.Tech courses and APICET for MBA courses. However, the other eligibility requirements for admission are given as follows:

Vikas College of Engineering & Technology Admission Criteria:

• For admissions in diploma courses: As per the Vikas College of Engineering & Technology, acandidate should be passed in SSLC ( Secondary School Leaving Certificate) or class 10th.
• For admissions in B.Tech courses: Candidates should have passed in class 12th from a recognised board of study in the science stream according to Vikas College of Engineering & Technology.
• For admissions in M.Tech courses: Candidates should produce a document of completion of a B.Tech degree as per the admission criteria of Vikas College of Engineering & Technology.
• For admission to MBA course: A candidate must have a bachelor's degree in any course for admission to Vikas College of Engineering & Technology.

Non-NRI candidates under category B will be utilized for benefiting the students from economically weaker sections of the society whose eligibility criteria shall be notified by the government. The government notifies a specific "Fee Waiver Scheme(s)" with the approval of the  "Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee" for benefiting the disadvantaged sections of society.

The Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology scholarship is given to deserving students belonging to all categories irrespective of reservations. For students who cannot afford to pay the tuition/hostel/ transport fees, the college provides merit-cum-mean scholarships to them.
