NEET Training to Begin by the End of November 2017, Tamil Nadu Govt. Informs HC

  • The state government of Tamil Nadu has prepared the question banks on NEET in English and they will be translated to the native language.
  • The government will identify the teachers and will train them to provide coaching classes to students willing to appear for NEET.

On November 1, 2017, the state government of Tamil Nadu has informed the High Court of Madras that the training for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will begin by the end of November 2017. Under the training programme, teachers, as well as ,students will be offered guidance. Earlier, Justice Kribakaran had directed the State Health Secretary to file a counter affidavit on the NEET issue. The matter came up for hearing on November 1, 2017, where clarity has been given on NEET coaching.

Mr. J. Radhakrishnan (Secretary of Department of Health & Family Welfare) informed the HC that the state government would initiate the process of identifying teachers in each district. These teachers will be given training on the topics covered under NEET so that they can provide coaching classes to train NEET aspirants.

The state government will further establish exclusive training centres for the aspirants of the competitive exam in district central libraries. The estimated budget for setting up these coaching centres will be close to Rs. 72 lakh.

Giving clarification on cases registered for protest against NEET, Mr. J. Radhakrishnan submitted that a total number of 1,422 agitations have reported across the state of which 317 were by students and 933 were by political parties. He also added that the counselling process in self-financing and government medical colleges has been completed for the current academic session.

The state government of Tamil Nadu has already prepared a question bank on NEET in the English language, however, it is yet to be translated in Tamil. The bench added that further hearing of the case will continue from November 8, 2017.
