The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, popularly known as MSU Baroda, was established on April 30, 1949, and is recognised by the Government of India under the Indian Universities Act, of 1958. Sir Pratapsinh Rao Gaekwad, Maharaja Sayajirao's Grandson, founded The Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) Baroda, and the Sir Sayajirao Diamond Jubilee and Memorial Trust. Today, it is one of the country's most esteemed higher education and research institutes with a total of two schools, three colleges, nine institutes, 14 faculties, and 111 departments under its umbrella. The state university was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an “A” Grade and with a CGPA of 3.16 in 2016.
