Jacobs University, also known as Jacobs University Bremen, was established in 2001. The university is located in the state of Bremen, Germany. It is an international, private university that currently has about 1,400 students from more than 105 countries. Jacobs University offers research-oriented courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and they are all taught in English.
At Jacobs University, the professors act as individual academic advisors and personal mentors to provide the best learning experience to students. The faculty members of the university follow a transdisciplinary approach for teaching and research. The faculty always addresses issues from multiple perspectives. Jacobs University has continuously been achieving top marks in the “Germany’s Most Detailed and Comprehensive University” ranking by CHE (Center for Higher Education) since the first year of its participation, i.e., 2005.
Due to a high number of international students studying at the university, Jacobs University is characterised by a truly intercultural community. In over sixteen years of its existence, it has been providing education of global standards.
Infrastructure, Campus and Courses
Jacobs University offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in economics, engineering, social sciences, mathematics and natural sciences. Jacobs University also offers PhD level programmes from which around 80 students complete their studies. All the courses that are offered at Jacobs University are designed in such a manner that the students, from the first year of study onwards, get deeply indulged in research. No clear-cut disciplinary boundaries mean the graduate level students learn to analyze and investigate issues from various perspectives.
The green and tree-shaded campus of Jacob’s University does not only comprise of building for teachings and research purposes. It always offers interesting things to do to the students with a music studio, sports facilities, concert venues, a student-run bar/cafe etc. The state of the art infrastructure at Jacobs University Bremen comprises of modern classrooms, computer labs, libraries, seminar rooms and laboratories.
Accomplishments and Alumni
The Jacobs University Bremen Alumni Association is a place where the graduates interact with the current students. The alumni association of Jacobs University is constantly increasing with the current numbers being at 5,000. The Jacobs University alumni are currently working with various renowned companies and they have admitted that their life at the University have taught them to see things in different perspectives enabling them to excel in their professional arenas.
