  • Determine the AP whose third term is 5 and the seventh term is 9.
  • Given that √2 is irrational, prove that (5 + 3√2) is an irrational number.
  • A line intersects the y-axis at the points P and Q respectively. If (2,-5) is the midpoint of PQ, then find the coordinates of P and Q.
  • Find the area of a triangle whose vertices are given as (1, -1), (-4, 6) and (-3, -5).
  • The larger of two supplementary angles exceeds the smaller by 18°. Find the angles.
  • A piece of wire 22 cm long is bent into the form of an arc of a circle subtending an angle of 60° at its centre. Find the radius of the circle. [Use π = 22/7]

3 Mark Questions

  • Two different dice are thrown together. Find the probability that the numbers obtained (i) have a sum less than 7; (ii) have a product less than 16; (iii) is a doublet of odd numbers.
  • Prove that: (sec A – cos A). (cot A + tan A) = tan A. sec A
  • In a game, a one-rupee coin is tossed three times and the result is recorded every time. Haneef will win if he gets at least two heads. Calculate Haneef’s probability of losing the game.
  • Water is flowing into a canal, 6 m wide and 1.5 m deep, at the rate of 10km/hr. How much area will it irrigate in 30 minutes, if 8 cm of standing water is required for irrigation?
  • A hemisphere of maximum possible diameter is placed over a cuboidal block of side 7 cm. Find the surface area of the solid so formed.
  • If the sixth term of an A.P. is zero, then show that its 33rd term is three times its 15th term.

5 Mark Questions

  • Solving the given pair of LE by substitution or Elimination Method. (Specific type: Solve: 99x y + 101 = 499, 101x + 99y = 501)
  • Word Problems: fixed charges, train, age, fraction, reversed digits.
  • Finding the value of the variable, given that the pair of LE are intersecting, parallel or coincident.
  • Finding whether the given equations are consistent or not.
  • Finding 'n', for which the nth term of 2 given APs are equal.
  • Solving the given pair of LE by substitution or Elimination Method. (Specific type: Solve: 99x y + 101 = 499, 101x + 99y = 501)
