Delhi, Noida School Holiday Declared: North India, particularly the Delhi NCR region is currently facing a severe cold wave, which has led several state administrations and local governments to announce school holidays for private and public schools. Due to the extreme weather conditions, authorities have decided to declare school holiday from nursery to Class 8th until January 17. Meanwhile, students of Class 9th and 11th will shift to a hybrid learning model, allowing students to attend classes online as well as offline.

On Wednesday, the Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) required all schools to start hybrid classes for students up to Class 9 and Class 11 because of poor air quality. This decision is part of stage four of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The official notice tells all school principals, both government and private, to switch to hybrid learning right away and continue this until further notice. However, students in Class 10 and Class 12 can still have in-person classes for their upcoming board exams.

Delhi, Noida Weather Condition Updates

The India Meteorological Department and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology have warned that Air Quality Index (AQI) could soon go above 400. This is due to calm weather, low winds, and dense fog, which can increase airborne pollutants. The AQI rose from 275 on Tuesday to 396 by Wednesday evening, showing very poor air quality. This prompted the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to instruct officials in Delhi-NCR to take immediate action under stages 3 and 4.

Students are advised to Follow the school district's instructions about when classes will resume. Dress your children warmly, as it may be cold. If they don't need to attend in person, encourage them to join online classes to stay safe and keep learning.
