Union Skill Development Minister, Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy informed Lok Sabha that the government is going to upgrade 1,396 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) through Public Private Partnership (PPP). He further indicated that the Director General of Training under Union Skill Development Ministry has been making constant efforts for improving the quality of training imparted at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country.
Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy also informed that the ministry is improving/ upgrading the infrastructure of ITIs through two centrally funded schemes for the enhancement of industrial value. Under the Public Private Partnership mode, the ministry will upgrade 1,396 government Industrial Training Institutes.

The Skill Development Minister also indicated that the ministry was taking steps to improve the quality of education at ITIs. Prescribing new affiliation norms and re-training instructors are some of the steps that are being taken by the ministry to develop ITIs across the country. The ministry will also promote ITIs through proper branding. Currently, there are over 13,000 ITIs in the country, out of which 3,000 are run by the government.

A few ITIs across the country have been conducting online examinations. The results of these examinations are being declared instantly. Earlier, Rajiv Pratap Rudy assured that the ministry would take all the possible steps for promoting ITIs. He further hoped that ITIs would set a benchmark in the near future. He also appreciated the efforts taken by the Government of Jharkhand in developing the Industrial Training Institutes or ITIs.
