All government and private schools in the Jammu division will remain closed from October 19 to November 2, 2025, for the Diwali festivities, while the University of Jammu has postponed exams scheduled during this period.

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir government has declared Diwali holidays for all Government and recognised Private Schools up to Higher Secondary level in the Jammu division. Schools will remain closed from October 19 to November 2, 2025 , allowing students and staff several days to celebrate the upcoming festivals and related cultural practices. An official order issued by Manisha, Personal Officer in the Directorate of School Education Jammu, states that there will be uniform closure across all government schools and residential schools, allowing families to participate in festivals without disruptive academic activities.

Previously, in October, schools in Jammu had also been closed on October 6 and 7 because of the heavy rains. Officials said those closures were precautionary and not tied to any festival like Valmiki Jayanti.

In view of the timing of the festival, the University of Jammu delayed all exams that were supposed to be held on October 20, 22, and 23, 2025 . Dr Raj Kumar, Joint Registrar (Examinations), asked the students to constantly remain in touch with their colleges for revised examination dates.

In the meantime, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education ( JKBOSE ) released the annual exam date sheet for classes 11 and 12 also. As per the schedule, Class 11 exams are scheduled to be conducted from November 19 to December 13, 2025 , and Class 12 exams will be held between November 8 and December 3, 2025 . Students can download the date sheet from the official JKBOSE website, jkbose.nic.in .

School holidays due to festivals aren’t limited to Jammu. Meanwhile, the schools in Rajasthan will be closed from October 13 to 24, while they are likely to close in Noida between October 20 to 23 .

These early announcements give students and staff the necessary notice to prepare for the holiday break while enabling education officials to plan their academic calendars accordingly. Officials could get in touch. Parents, students are requested to refer to notifications for any such announcements on exam re-conduct or school re-opening.
