National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Launches Certificate Course in Yoga

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Launches Certificate Course in Yoga

Popular National Institute of Open Schooling, also known as NIOS, recently launched a new certificate course in Yoga with an objective to create opportunities for those enrolled to apply for jobs in the Yoga teaching domain. Candidates of Indian origin, as well as foreign nationals, are eligible to apply for the same.

The Union Minister of State for HRD, Mr. Upendra Kushwaha launched the course in Patna on 21st June which was celebrated as the International Yoga Day all over.

As a part of Prime Minister Modi's initiative and efforts to promote Yoga, the course was launched at NIOS, revealed Mr. Sanjay Kumar who is the Regional Director of NIOS, an autonomous institution under the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.

Once certified, the candidate will be able to apply for job opportunities of yoga instructors or teachers in yoga institutions, health clubs, schools, yoga centres, naturopathy hospitals, colleges etc.

Eligibility and Features of Certificate Course in Yoga:

  • Candidates should have passed class 12th or an equivalent from a recognised school board/university.
  • The duration of the course will be divided into two parts. The course structure will contain two modules out of which one month will be residential while the other six months will be conducted in a workshop mode.
  • The minimum contact hours of the certificate course will be 240 hours.
  • The theory component of the course will comprise of 30 percent and practicals will cover 50 percent of the structure. The rest of the 20 percent will be awarded basis the learner's portfolio.
