The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education has recently announced that it is introducing a new system of Board examinations from the next academic year onwards. In this change, the final exams for Classes 10th and 12th will be conducted twice a year, each session with its own set of guidelines. The first board exam of the year will be compulsory for all students to appear for, while the second exam will be optional. From the academic year 2026-27, students who do not score well in the mandatory Board exam on one go will have a second opportunity to appear for the test again to improve their overall performance.

Highlights of RBSE New Board Exam Structure 2026-27

Some key features of the RBSE new Board exam structure are provided here:

  • This new system of examination conduct will be applicable for both Classes 10th and 12th.

  • The Board exams will be conducted twice in February-March sessions and May-June sessions.

  • All students will have to mandatorily appear for the first exam. Only the students who want to improve their overall score can appear for the second exam.

  • Students can appear for the second exam to improve their score in up to three subjects only.

  • The final result of the students will be calculated in a “Best of Two” method. This means that the best performance out of the two will be considered for the final result in each subject for a student.

  • The syllabus and marking process will be the same in both exams.

Key Benefits of RBSE New Board Exam Structure 2026-27

Here are some important benefits for the students provided below as a result of the newly introduced RBSE Board exam structure:

  • Students will be less stressed about qualifying the entrance exam at one go. They will get plenty of time to prepare and improve on their weaknesses.

  • Students who underperform in one or two subjects will get another chance at improving their overall Board score.

  • In case a student misses appearing for the first exam of the year, they can appear for the second exam to compensate for the missed opportunity.

  • It will boost healthy competition among students for the Board exams without having to worry about unnecessary stress and distractions.

In a gist, this new approach has been introduced by the RBSE by mirroring the recent announcement of the CBSE to improve the exam structure at the higher education level. This is to ensure a shift towards a more student-centric and flexible learning model at the state level in Rajasthan.
