Schools in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kerala are likely to face closures on August 29, 2025, due to heavy rainfall forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). State and local governments have declared holidays in several areas due to a combination of excessive rains, flood risks, and ongoing regional celebrations. In Telangana, a
red alert
has been issued by the IMD for
Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and Medak;
meanwhile, an
orange alert
has been raised for
Sangareddy, Siddpet,
and many more districts. Very high rainfall along with thunderstorms, is expected in some districts. In Maharashtra, heavy rainfall is anticipated in various districts, including
Pune, Satara & Kolhapur
, with red alert.

Telangana School Holiday 29 August 2025
- Rains have reduced in Hyderabad. Heavy rains will continue in Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Jagitial, Khammam, Mahabubabad and Bhadradri.
- IMD has issued a red alert for 4 districts and an orange alert for 15 districts.
- Authorities declared holidays for all educational institutions in Kamareddy, Medak, Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Jagtial districts.
Andhra Pradesh School Holiday 29 August 2025
- IMD forecasted thunderstorms and heavy rains in parts of Andhra Pradesh.
- Northern Coastal Districts - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and Anakapalli - are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next three days.
- Due to the forecasted heavy rains, officials may declare school holidays in the affected districts.
Maharashtra School Holiday 29 August 2025
- The IMD has issued a red and orange alert of heavy rainfall for the Ghats in Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Pune districts.
- During this time, the wind speed is expected to reach 30 to 40 km per hour.
- District administrations are likely to announce the School Holiday 29 August 2025 due to heavy rain.
Kerala School Holiday 29 August 2025
- Orange alert has been issued for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasargod. Yellow alert has been forecasted for 7 districts of Kerala.
- Fishing has been stopped by state government in coastal regions till August 30.
- State-run schools of Kerala are already on holiday till September 8, due to Onam celebrations in the state .
