These districts are expected to experience heavy rain on December 18, 2024. Light rain is forecasted for the afternoon, with a possibility of heavy downpours by night. While the rest of the city is under a yellow alert, the above districts have been flagged as orange. Therefore, schools and colleges in the affected areas were likely to have a holiday on 18 December 2024, however, the officials have not confirmed any holiday. • LATEST | As per the latest updates available, School Holiday on December 18 has not been declared in any district. For isolated regions experiencing heavy rainfall, students and parents are advised to contact the school authorities.

• The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for four districts in Tamil Nadu: Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu, due to heavy rain expected on December 18, 2024.

• Very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in these districts.

• Schools will most likely remain closed in  Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu districts.
