7. What is a kinety?

A kinety is a row of cilia along with their associated basal bodies (kinetosomes) found on the surface of certain protozoans, like ciliates, aiding in movement and feeding. It is a key structural feature in organisms such as Paramecium , coordinating ciliary motion.

8. Distinguish between proter and opisthe.

In ciliates like Paramecium , proter is the anterior daughter cell formed during binary fission, retaining the parent’s front end, while opisthe is the posterior daughter cell, inheriting the rear end.
