History, Affiliations and Rankings

The University of California, Riverside is a member of the most prestigious public university system. The forbearer of the university, The Riverside Citrus Experiment Station was set up on February 14, 1907. Popularly known as UCR, the university has constantly seen a rise in college rankings at the international level. It is ranked Number 12 among all universities in the US according to Money Magazine’s 2020 rankings. According to the 2019-20 Center for World University rankings, UCR also happens to be among the top 1 per cent of universities across the world. The university has also been named the top university in the nation for social mobility by US news in 2020.

The University of California, Riverside is located in the fastest-growing and 10th most populous regions in the country. The 40-acre Botanic Gardens and 22-acre Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection make the UC Riverside campus one-of-a-kind. The UCR library, which has over 2 million books, is one of the largest curated collection of science fiction and fantasy in the world.
