The NIRF State Universities Ranking 2025 was released on September 4, 2025. every year. This year, the top three NIRF ranked state universities are Jadavpur University, Anna University, and Panjab University.

NIRF State Universities Ranking 2025: The Ministry of Education releases the NIRF State Universities Ranking 2025 every year. This year, it was released on September 4, 2025. Last year, Anna University (Tamil Nadu) held the rank 1, and this year the first position has been overtaken by Jadavpur University.

The NIRF has been releasing state university rankings since 2015 based on the overall performance of the universities. In 2025, the NIRF ranking process will follow two major updates: the introduction of a Sustainability or SDG-focused category and the use of negative grading for withdrawn or discredited research outputs.
