What After NIFT Entrance Exam: Alternate Options

If you are a Class 12 student, your next priority should be the Board exams. If you are one of the fortunate few who passed the NID written, you need to start getting ready for the portfolio presentations, personal interviews, and studio tests. However, you should do this under the guidance of a professional mentor for better presentation. Discussed below are some alternate design-related options students may opt for to find an answer to the question — What after NIFT.

  • It is strongly encouraged that you apply to other prestigious design and art institutes, such as MITID, IICD, FDDI, Pearl Academy, and NIIFT Mohali, for their upcoming entrance exams. Since every applicant has taken the NIFT written test, it should not be an issue since equivalent preparations for the GAT and CAT subjects are needed for all of these exams, which are scheduled to take place in April and June of each year (tentative). Maintaining or increasing speed and accuracy also requires consistent practice, so it is important to stay on top of things.

  • This is true for candidates preparing for NID stages 2 and 3, as well as for anyone who might pass NIFT stage 1. It is highly recommended to complete the forms for all reputable design universities and submit the entrance exam until one has successfully passed the NIFT or NID DAT entrance exam.

  • Those who want to pursue careers in Art, whether it be fine art or commercial art, should also start preparing. They have to narrow down to seven or eight preferred art colleges and get ready for entrance. Around the time of the announcement of the results for the board, the art colleges distribute their forms in April or May every year (tentative).

  • This is the best opportunity for candidates vying for architecture who are in class XII and have Maths; they should focus on getting ready for NATA and other B Arch entrance tests. Each year, NATA registration is open from March to August (tentative), and candidates must take it after a few days of registration. Practice using the question banks from prior years must begin on a time-bound basis.

  • After qualifying through UCEED, candidates should also maintain track of all the universities that fall under its purview and submit an application as soon as possible. While UCEED is a qualifying exam, applicants must also adhere to the full admission requirements of each college that falls within its purview separately.

What After NIFT Exam: Preparation Tips for Next Rounds

  • It is advised that you stay focused and practice regularly to improve your presentation skills for the upcoming rounds.

  • The candidates who have filled out their application form for BDes should start the NIFT 2024 Situation Test preparation.

  • The Situation Test will be conducted to assess a candidate's skills of creativity and material handling in a particular situation with a given set of materials. This is a competitive level that will hold 20% weightage in the final merit.

  • The candidates who have opted for MDes, MFTech, and MFM should focus on their GD/PI rounds. You should work on improving your communication and presentation skills.

  • In the Personal Interview round, the candidates will be assessed by an Interview Panel based on their academic and co-curricular accomplishments, creative and lateral thinking capability, communication skills, career alignment, and suitability for the chosen program.

The work ahead of everyone who makes it beyond the NIFT written entrance is rather evident. Focus on getting ready for the Situation Test/ GDPI rounds. This requires meticulous planning and must be handled with the utmost seriousness. Wishing all NIFT aspirants the best possible luck with the written exam results!
