What is WB Student Credit Card?
The Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, started the WB Student Credit Card Scheme initiative. The scheme's primary goal is to offer students financial aid so they can complete or pursue higher education without worrying about expenses. Students will get a loan of Rs 10,00,000 at a 4% simple annual interest rate from the State Cooperative Banks and its affiliated Central Cooperative Banks, District Central Cooperative Banks and Public or Private Sector Banks. To utilise the WBSCC scheme, students have to be enrolled in higher education courses within or outside India in schools, madrasahs, colleges, universities, IITs, IIMs, IISc, IIESTs, ISIs, NLUs, AIIMSs, NITs, XLRI, BITS, SPA, NID, IIFTs, ICFAI Business School, etc. or studying in coaching centres for various competitive exams such as Engineering, Medical, Law, IAS, IPS, WBCS, SSC, etc. With the help of the loan amount, students can finance their Class 10, Class 11, and Class 12 education along with BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, MBBS, LLB, PGDM, technical courses like ITI, MA, M.Sc, M.Com and MBA. WB Student Credit Card Application Process
Take a look at the West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme application process through the WBSCC portal below:
- From the official website, click on the ‘Student Registration’ tab.
- Then select if you are applying for ‘Institutions in India’ or ‘Institutions Outside India’.
- Provide your basic details such as name, DOB, gender, email address, mobile number, present course of study and a password.
- After successful completion of the details, a unique ID and password will be created that will be sent to the candidate’s mobile number.
- These credentials will be used to fill out further details on the WBSCCS application form.
- Login again with the User ID and password.
- Enter the details of the student, like name, father’s name, mother’s name, co-borrower / name of guardian and his/her respective detailed information, present and permanent address details, course and income details, bank details of the student and bank details of the co-borrower.
- The Applicant’s Profile view page will be displayed on the screen, where you can see your scanned photo and signature, the scanned photo and signature of the co-borrower, details of the qualifying exam, details of the present course of study, personal information, etc.
- After successful completion of the form fill-up, you have to click on the ‘Submit Application’ tab.
WB Student Credit Card Grievance Portal
A grievance portal has been created for the WB Student Credit Card. Through the grievance portal, students can raise grievances or complaints related to their application for the “Student Credit Card”. The WBSCC portal and the WB grievance portal are different. WB Student Credit Card Eligibility Criteria
The students who meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme can apply for it from the WBSCC portal. To apply for the WB Student Credit Card, students have to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of West Bengal for at least 10 years.
- To apply for the WB Student Credit Card scheme, the student must be at least 15 years of age.
- The maximum age of the candidate must not exceed 40 years at the time of application.
- The candidate must be pursuing education from high schools, colleges, universities, madrasahs, IITs, IIMs, IISc, IIESTs, ISIs, NLUs, AIIMSs, NITs, XLRI, BITS, SPA, NID, IIFTs, ICFAI Business School, etc., within or outside India.
