Selection Criteria at TAPMI: Programmes, Exams and Cutoffs
T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) does not conduct its own entry level exam and primarily selects students on the basis of CAT / XAT / MAT / GMAT scores. Apart from the score in either of these exams, the institute also gives importance to the candidate’s past academic background, work experience and overall development.
Programmes offered by the institute:
- Post Graduate Diploma in management (PGDM)
- PGDM – Banking and Financial Services (BKFS)
- PGDM – Healthcare (HCM)
- Exchange Programmes
- Executive Education
- Doctorate level Programmes
Selection for all the programmes mentioned above is done in two phases as given below:
|Programme||Phase 1||Phase 2|
|PGDM||The institute will first select candidates on the basis of their score in either CAT / XAT / MAT / GMAT along with their academic profile.||In the second round, the candidates have to appear for the Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The interviewing panel also analyses the quality of work experience of a candidate.|
|PGDM – HCM||Candidates will be selected basis their score in either of the exams mentioned above, provided they clear the cutoff set by the institute.||There may or may not be a Group Discussion round for this programme. However, the candidates will have to clear the written ability test and Personal Interview in order to get admission in this programme.|
|PGDM – BKFS||The institute accepts either off CAT/ XAT/ GMAT scores for selection of students for this programme. Performance in 10th, 12th and graduation along with work experience plays an essential role in selection.||Selected candidates are invited on campus to appear for the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview round.|
|Executive Education||Selection for this programmes is done on the basis of the application submitted by the candidate during the time of registration.||Final selection is done on the basis of Personal Interview and quality of work experience of a candidate.|
|Doctorate level Programmes||Candidates are selected on the basis of their research work and papers published by them. Candidate's application also plays an essential role.||Shortlisted candidates are invited for Personal Interview round. Final selection is done on the basis of a candidate’s score in both the rounds.|
You can expect the cutoff to be around 80 percentile but it is not a definite score. The cutoff is subject to change as the admission trends are different each year. Check the estimated cutoff below:
|MAT||80 to 90|
