Undergraduate Programme Overview - Ashoka University’s undergraduate B.A./B.Sc. Honours and Honours with Research degree programme spans over four years and is designed to expose students to a wide range of perspectives inside and outside the classroom. This allows students ample opportunity to explore courses across various disciplines, engage in extra-curricular and co-curricular pursuits, uncover new areas of interest, and alter the course of their academic journey. Furthermore, the programme aligns with the New Education Policy outlined by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2020, reflecting the university’s commitment to modern educational standards. Students will immerse themselves in nine mandatory Foundation Courses and select their Major by the third semester. Additionally, they have the flexibility to choose Minors/Concentration options. Completion of credits from these courses, along with internships, is necessary for graduation. The undergraduate programme offers 13 pure and 12 interdisciplinary majors, minors/concentration in all pure majors plus 10 others, various co-curricular, and nine mandatory foundation courses including Critical Thinking.
Summer Programmes at Ashoka University - Ashoka University offers an intensive six-week study programme during the summer for undergraduate students. The summer semester is held in person at the Ashoka campus, with the exception of field courses that take students to the Himalayan regions or the plains of Central India. A range of four-credit courses (40 contact hours, equivalent to 7.5 ECTS) is offered across disciplines. Enrolling for the summer semester provides an opportunity for Ashokans and international students to take courses that help gain additional credits, accelerate their academic pathway, or explore other areas of interest. Students are encouraged to seek academic advising before registering for courses. The summer term also allows students to take courses from international visiting faculty on cutting-edge research topics and experience field-based courses. CS Seminar: Karger’s Min-Cut Algorithm - Join us for a seminar focusing on Karger’s Min-Cut Algorithm and its applications. We will discuss Karger's Algorithm, which is a simple randomized algorithm to compute the global minimum cut of a graph. Karger's algorithm is elementary and avoids the use of maximum flows to compute the min cut. The seminar will be led by Aditi, a postdoc in the Big Data Algorithms Group at the University of Salzburg, who completed her PhD in the Computer Science Department of Rutgers University. CS Colloquium: Dhara Mungra | AI Against Misinformation - Join us for a colloquium on the impact of AI on misinformation with Dhara Mungra. In this talk, Dhara will share lessons from her work building AI-powered tools to counter disinformation and health misinformation across South Asia. The YIF program brings handpicked and carefully chosen individuals to be groomed over a period of one year at the university to lead the society and communities of the new age. Millennials and forward-looking individuals are selected after rigorous rounds of selection.
Ashoka University's Young India Fellowship requires certain eligibility that must be fulfilled. At the time of application, the candidate cannot be more than 28 years. When applying, an undergraduate degree is a must where the applicant may be waiting for final year results. The three key qualities basis which individuals are evaluated are - Intellectual curiosity, passion and self-awareness, and potential to lead.
There are two rounds of a rigorous process, where the final round of the two decides who, from varying degrees of capability, can join the course. If the applicant misses the first round, they can join in the final round for assessment.
Of the two rounds, the applicants are required to clear both and prove their capability to lead the way. A 50 percent fee waiver is possible for a large range, and it is also a need-based relaxation for financial requirements.
