Film Club

Bharati College Film Club was instituted as a distinct extra-curricular society in August 2013. It is open to all students of the college,To this effect,

it has evolved a comprehensive policy of multi-lingual and multi-genre screenings of mainstream and parallel cinema and documentaries on a regular, weekly basis. Accordingly, an eclectic variety of movies Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Udaan and Life of Pi being some of the most well-received ones were screened every Friday for much of this academic session.and includes a faculty coordinator and a core committee of four student representatives President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary from all three years. It aims to educate and empower students by analysing the medium and probing into various issues which it puts into the public domain, and to creatively employ the cinematic medium for pertinent interventions on socially relevant issues. In collaboration with the Public Services Broadcasting Trust, PSBT, a week-long documentary film festival was also organised in the third week of September 2013 on a range of topical issues. Two texts were screened every day, and respondents from the Departments of English, History and Political Science chaired the screenings throughout the week.

Debates and a poster-making competition were also held on the sides of this event.
Future plans include systematising Club screenings, organising interactions with directors and scriptwriters, creating a lending library of DVDs, and widening our reach beyond the college. A major project is the production of a short film on the everyday life of a common girl being managed by Club members; we hope to release the same by the beginning of March 2014. Lastly, we also aim to inculcate an in-house culture of critical thinking amongst Club members by embarking upon a series of reading sessions amongst the same.

Elantre- The fashion society

Elantre the French word means, Be Elegant and this is what we want our young ladies to be Elegant, Smart and Confident, when they step out in the World after their college. Elantre, The fashion society was formed in the year 2014 with the objective of giving our girls a platform wherein they could portray their talent in the field of Fashion’. Today’s youth is versatile and wants to explore the non-traditional arenas where they make their mark. One of them being The Fashion World. Our girls have proved it right by bagging so many awards in the year of the inception of the society .Elantre also gives an advantage to the girls to pursue Fashion as a career after completing the college. The keen interest shown by the girls and their remarkable hardwork has made this Society leave a mark wherever they went. It is quite evident from the media attention they have received. A bright future is lying ahead of this Society provided they are supported and our college never shies away from this. The faculty and the Principal of the college have been ever supportive and encouraging the young lasses of our college.

Chintan- The Debating Society

The basic aim of the Society is to create an environment which promotes interaction between students and teachers through debates, declamations, elocutions and discussions. Such activities create awareness and thus help students in opinion formation on relevant contemporary issues. Apart from providing a platform to students to voice their opinions, as a second step such activities help students towards shaping their ideas in to changes that they wish to bring about in the world around them.

Advaita- The Dance Society

ADVAITA, the word derived from Sanskrit means One of a Kind or Non Duality. It simply means not two!! And this is what we preach.. ONENESS..

Advaita was formed in 2012 , the society is defined by its forte in Western Dance Forms. It consists of 20 members at present drawn from various streams of education through their skill and passion for dance. Advaita is not only one of the most popular societies of the college, but is also the most efficient and prominent one.

Advaita performs in all of our college events like Fresher’s party, Bharati Cup (annual sports meet), Independence Day, Annual Day, Abhivyakti (annual cultural fest), Farewell and what all comes up choreographed by the team itself..

We compete in all the western dance competitions held in DU and in other Universities too.

Advaita won accolades in fests like-

P.G.D.A.V (DU) (2012-13), third position

Satyawati (DU) (2012-13), second position
