The Government Law College (GLC), University of Mumbai has world class facilities, with state-of-art infrastructure. The Moot clubs are one of the most updated clubs, and is monitored by experienced faculty members. The library has the capacity of over 42000 books, with timings from 9 A.M to 5 P.M., It has electronic research center, and hostel accommodation.
The Government Law College has no hostel of its own. However, 62 seats for male students of the College in the Government Colleges Hostel, "C" Road, Churchgate and 20 Seats for male students at the Ismail Yusuf College at Jogeshwari, Mumbai has been provided. A good number of students also reside at the International Students Hostel, which is a stone's throw away from the college, and at several paying guest arrangements in South Mumbai. However, at the time of admission to the college, no candidate can be assured of the accommodation in the hostel.
The Rotaract Club of GLC is a unit of the Rotary International, an international organization at the forefront of social service and societal development. The Rotract Club aims at the overall development of its members. To achieve this end, it undertakes various social service initiatives, personality development initiatives as well as entertainment and fun events for its members. It organises "The Charity Sale" in association with several NGOs to provide a platform to the under-privileged to showcase their talent and products and market them to a wide audience.
Since its inception in 1954, the MCA is committed to promote, co-ordinate and encourage the activity of mooting at GLC. The primary objective of the MCA is to provide student of GLC with a platform to gain exposure to the practical aspects of legal education. The MCA organizes some of the most prestigious moots in the country.
Leo Club of Government Law College is a youth organisation of Lions Club International. The word L E O stands for Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.
Leadership – Develop skills as a project organizer, time manager and team leader.
Experience – Learn how teamwork, cooperation and collaboration can bring exciting changes to your community.
Opportunity – Make friends and feel the rewards of community service.
The Leo club conducts service activities, educational Projects, cultural activities, workshops and seminars, youth convention and council meets which develops the individual qualities of Leadership, Experience and Opportunity, to unite its members in friendship, fellowship and mutual understanding. The Leo Club Program gives young people the opportunity to serve their communities and make a positive impact.
We started our year 2015-16 with the Motto ‘In Pursuit of Excellence’. This year continuing the legacy and holding onto Leoism and its importance, the LEO CLUB of Government Law College had organised various events.
October Service Week was the most prominent event of the year. A Free Medical Check-up camp was organised in College.We had also organised various Blood Donation Camps , Organ Donation Drive and N.G.O. Visits. In Other events, were Salute to Saviours- an event to appreciate the Policemen for their endless service and Chronicle’15 - an intellectual based event where the participants connected psychology and law , The concluding event of the service week was a Seminar on cyber crime.
We had also organised a Lecture on the Basic Civil Procedures of court followed by a High Court visit. The Leo club of Government Law College had gone for the 1st Multiple Council Meet —‘SHANKHNAAD’ to Khanvel Resort, Silvassa .Lastly, the year ended with a Christmas Party for under privileged kids and a Box Cricket Tournament- CRIKOUT’16.
