NIT Srinagar Facilities: Hostel Fees, Infrastructure, Address

 NIT Srinagar is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world and has one of the most beautiful campuses. Situated in the valley that is often called ‘Heaven of Earth,’ NIT Srinagar does not have a huge campus as such but the location of the campus is serene and mesmerising. Located close to the world-famous tourist attraction Dal Lake of Srinagar, NIT Srinagar has a range of modern facilities.

Hostels in NIT Srinagar are well maintained and rich with facilities. NIT Srinagar hostel facilities are available for boys and girls. The boys' hostels at NIT Srinagar are named after four major rivers that flow in the region - Indus, Tawi, Jhelum, Chenab and Dal Lake. The hostels of NIT Srinagar have a mess attached, and a computer centre is available in the NIT Srinagar Hostels for students’ use for academics. The computers offer 24x7 internet connectivity. There are 2 girls’ hostels on the NIT Srinagar campus with all modern facilities.

The library at NIT Srinagar has more than 40000 books and thousands of online and offline journals. The central library is managed digitally also, digital books and e-books are also available for access by NIT Srinagar students.

Four messes of the above hostels are being run by the students under over all supervision of the Chairman Student mess.
The wardens and other hostel staff regularly visit to hostels and take-up students problems (if any) immediately. Special care is taken for the Ist semester students so that they will feel comfortable. Following Quality/Quantity Control Committee look after all the Student Messes of the Institute.

• Two Students representatives from each Mess to be nominated by the Dean, Students Welfare and the Chief Warden.

The committee assess the Quality/Quantity of food and allied items provided to the students during Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

All the hostels are named after various famous rivers belonging to the region, namely INDUS, CHENAB, JEHULM ,TAWI and DAL Lake. Each hostel has a seperate mess.

There is a Centralized hostel office for tackling the matters of Hostels and maintaining the discipline in the hostels. Dr. Ab Liman is the Chief Warden at present and Mr. Nazir Ahmad is the Hostel Manager. The Hostel Manager and the remaining staff of the Hostel office help in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in and around the hostels. Each hostel has a Warden to keep strict vigil on students. These wardens are highly qualified faculty members and chosen from different Departments.
