The College of Agriculture, Kolhapur was established in the year 1963 under the Shivaji University, Kolhapur and started at Kasaba-Bavada, about four kilometer away from Central Bus Stand, Kolhapur. In 1968, after formation of Maharashtra Agricultural University; this College was transferred to the University. Subsequently on formation of Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri in 1969, the College was transferred as a constituent College of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri and has become a regional headquarter for Kolhapur, Satara and Sangli districts. The College is located at old Pune-Bangalore National Highway No. 4 with different well equipped sectional buildings. The average rainfall of this area is 1024.1 mm, with average maximum temperature of 36.9 0C and minimum temperature of 9.4 0C in the months of May and December, respectively. This region comes under 7 Sub Montane Zone at 160 41' N latitude and 740 16? E longitudes with a height of 548 m MSL.
Training and Placement cell has been started in the college from the year 2007. The basic concept of the placement cell is to assist graduating students to find gainful employment. The College of Agriculture, Kolhapur has its unique placement cell which coordinates this activity. The cell is working with the help of Students’ Council under the control of the Associate Dean as President, Senior Professor as Vice President and Students’ Welfare officer. Students have access to information on job opportunities and higher studies within country. The pertinent catalogue, announcement and newspapers are procured and made available to the students.
