Being a prominent institute, IIT Hyderabad is a dream come true for engineering students in India. Since its inception in 2008, IIT Hyderabad has been consistent in being one of the best engineering colleges in India. It has been consistently ranked in the top 10 institutes in India for engineering, according to NIRF, making it one of the most coveted institutes for science and technology in the country. IIT Hyderabad courses are available at the UG level in various disciplines such as Engineering, Applied Science, Design, and others. The institute also offers PG-level and doctoral programmes in several streams. The MTech programmes are offered in different modes and durations to meet the growing demand for postgraduate-level professionals in the country. The faculty-to-student ratio at IIT Hyderabad is relatively favourable at 1:14. This is likely due to the fact that the institute is still growing and developing, and it has been able to attract a large number of talented faculty members.

The area is filled with mostly industries, and there are rarely any amenities available near campus. Apart from this, students have also complained about unhygienic food being served in the hostel mess.

Over 400 seats are available for the BTech courses at IIT Hyderabad. These seats are divided into multiple disciplines. For instance, 30 seats are available for Artificial Intelligence, 40 seats are available for Chemical Engineering, 60 seats are available for Mechanical Engineering, and so on.

When we talk about seat intake, it is evident that there are an average number of seats available for engineering courses. However, this can still be justified given the prominence of this institute. The disciplines offered by the institutes are quite vast, so we will give a plus point for that. The institute also focuses primarily on research and innovation, which are crucial for future generations in this country.

Hostel:

IIT Hyderabad is a residential campus offering modern, wifi-enabled hostels with individual rooms and shared common spaces. Supervised by a Council of Wardens and a dedicated Hostel Office, it fosters independence, lifelong connections, and vibrant campus life. 16 well-lit and ventilated blocks (12 for boys, 4 for girls) provide comfortable living with stunning sunrises and sunsets from balconies. Enjoy activities year-round, making your hostel experience a transformational journey. However, the maintenance of the hostels can be better according to some of its residents.

Activities:

IIT Hyderabad has a number of student clubs and organisations that offer a variety of activities, such as sports, cultural activities, and technical activities. The institute also has a number of facilities for recreation, such as a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a football field.

Cafe/ Hang-out:

IITH boasts a shared dining hall catering to students, staff, and faculty. It offers both North and South Indian delicacies, ensuring everyone finds something to savour. Regular quality checks by student representatives and wardens guarantee a satisfying dining experience. IITH's Shiru Cafe, the first outside Japan, offers free beverages served by Japanese student interns. This innovative approach fosters cultural exchange and understanding within the IITH community.

Our Take
Based on our evaluation, it seems that IIT Hyderabad has a very impressive infrastructure that caters well to the needs of its students, faculty, and staff. Classrooms, labs, auditoriums, and libraries all seem to be up-to-date and conducive to learning and research. Also, individual rooms in hostels with shared common spaces and recreational facilities like a swimming pool and sports courts promote a vibrant campus life. The dining hall offering both North and South Indian food, along with the unique Shiru Cafe, demonstrates inclusivity and cultural exchange. While the description mentions accessibility to online resources, it would be beneficial to know if specific academic software or databases are available for research and teaching. It would also be interesting to learn more about the institute's support systems for student well-being, such as counselling services or career guidance.

There are two types of internships being offered by the institute: semester internships and summer internships.

IIT Hyderabad placement 2023 has concluded. The institute has released the placement statistics, according to which 74.90% of the students were placed. A total of 621 offers were made by 335 companies. The highest package offered to students was INR 63.78 LPA.

Some of top-tier companies are recruiters for IIT Hyderabad, including Amazon, Flipkart, HDFC bank, etc. It is evident that IIT Hyderabad students are regularly placed in top companies around the world. However, the overall placement percentage was only 74.90%. So, the institute can work on improving the numbers. At the same time, the placement rate for some courses, like BDes, can also be improved. 

IIT Hyderabad Diversity & Representation

IIT Hyderabad excels when it comes to gender diversity. As per a news report, the institute has introduced special incentives to boost gender diversity and has a goal of having at least 25% of women students admitted to the 4-year BTech programme. Through this programme, a 25% tuition fee waiver will be provided to female students.

The gender diversity programme at IIT Hyderabad is quite impressive. The special fee waiver for female students will further encourage them to join the institute. IIT Hyderabad Location

IIT Hyderabad is located in Sangareddy district in the state of Telangana. It is about 50 kilometres west of Hyderabad city. The campus is spread over 576 acres of land. IIT Hyderabad is located in a rural area, but it is close to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the National Highway 65. This makes it easy to commute to and from Hyderabad.

There are a number of factors that make IIT Hyderabad an ideal institute for students, namely its research programmes, NIRF rankings, updated curriculum, etc.

However, it is also crucial for the institute to focus on its student's satisfaction and health. The institute should put in place some measures to make sure the students breathe fresh air and are protected from the industry’s waste. Being a hub of research itself, we do not think it will be difficult for IIT Hyderabad to achieve this.
