If you are targeting the most sought-after seats in Trichy or Surathkal, a cutoff rank of under 20,000 should be sufficient. For good colleges such as NIT Rourkela or NIT Calicut, a cutoff rank of 25,000-35,000 may be adequate. Cutoffs of under 45,000 should get you into most colleges.
