About KEAM 2018

KEAM is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala. Every year, Kerala CEE conducts KEAM for candidates who wish to pursue various degree courses including engineering courses in different colleges and institutions of Kerala state. Conducted across various exam centres in Kerala, Mumbai, New Delhi and Dubai, candidates willing to take admission in various courses offered at professional colleges of Kerala will have to qualify KEAM. KEAM 2018 for admission to engineering programmes will be organized on 23rd and 24th April 2018.

KEAM 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The following table lists the eligibility criteria prescribed by CEE Kerala.

Nationality

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.

  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) can also apply for KEAM 2018 but they will not be eligible for reserved seats.

Academic Qualification required for KEAM 2018

  • Applicants must have passed their Higher Secondary Examination (HSC), Kerala with 50% marks in Mathematics separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics collectively.

  • Applicants who have passed their Higher Secondary Examination with at least 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science / Biology will be eligible for admission under Management Quota seats in Private Self-financing Engineering colleges/Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges.

  • Marks scored in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of Board exam will be considered.

KEAM 2018 Age limit

  • Applicants must be 17 years of age as on December 31, 2018.

  • There is no upper age limit to apply for KEAM 2018.

For Keralite category

  • Kerala applicants will come under Keralite category.

  • Applicants whose parents are officers in All India Service (AIS) (Non-Keralite) and posted under Kerala cadre are considered as Keralite as per Government rules. However, they will not be eligible for the reservation of communal/ special/ persons with disabilities or any concession in the fee structure.

For Non-Keralite – I (NK – I) category

Following categories will be eligible to appear in KEAM 2018:

  • Applicants not belonging to Kerala origin falls under non- Keralite category.

  • Applicants who has pursued qualifying course in Kerala and also the son/daughter of the non-Keralite parents belonging to the Government of India/Defence Service posted in Kerala.

  • Applicants who have studied class 12th in Kerala with non-Keralite parents serving/served Government of Kerala for at least 2 years, including the period of study of the class 12th.

  • Applicants who have stayed in Kerala for at least five years within the period of twelve years of their study, but is a non-resident of Kerala.

  • A Non-Keralite applicant who has studied in Kerala from class 8 to class 12.

  • Such applicants will not be eligible for admission under the reservation of communal/special/persons with disabilities or any concession in fee structure.

For Non-Keralite – II (NK – II)

  • Applicants not falling under any Keralite or Non- Keralite Category I (NK I) will be considered as Non-Keralite Category-II(NK – II.)

  • Applicants of Non-Keralite Category-II(NK-II) will be eligible for admission to Management quota seats in engineering courses in Government Controlled Self-financing Colleges.

  • Such applicants will not be eligible for admission under the reservation of communal/special/persons with disabilities or any concession in fee structure.

KEAM 2018 Exam Pattern

  • KEAM 2018 will be conducted in offline (pen-paper based) mode.

  • The entrance exam will have 2 papers, and each paper will have multiple type of questions (MCQs).

  • Paper I (Physics/Chemistry) will have 120 questions, while Paper II (Mathematics) will have 120 questions.

  • The medium of language of the paper will be English.

  • The total duration of the exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes (for each paper).

  • Negative marking will be applicable in KEAM 2018.

  • The marking scheme of KEAM 2018 is specified below:

  • For each correct response, 4 marks will be awarded to the candidates.

  • For each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score.

  • If a candidate marks two options on the OMR sheet, then it will be considered as a wrong answer, and 1 mark will be deducted.

KEAM 2018 Exam Analysis

KEAM 2018 was conducted successfully on 23rd and 24th April, 2018 by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala. The examination was held in 352 centres including 14 districts in Kerala, Mumbai, New Delhi and Dubai. By qualifying the examination, candidates can become eligible for admission in engineering and pharmacy courses offered at various colleges in the state of Kerala.

KEAM was conducted on two days – Paper 1 for Physics and Chemistry was conducted on 23rd April while Paper 2 for Mathematics was conducted on 24th April, 2018.

Analysis of KEAM 2018 Paper I (Physics & Chemistry)

Most of the candidates who appeared for the exam found the paper to be moderate in terms of the difficulty level. Chemistry was easier in comparison with Physics, which had some tricky questions. The paper was more or less confined to the syllabus of KEAM.

Analysis of KEAM 2018 Paper II (Mathematics)

The second paper of KEAM was held successfully on 24th April, 2017. Students found the Mathematics paper easy in comparison with Physics and Chemistry, which were part of Paper I.

How to Prepare for KEAM 2018

Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical (KEAM) is scheduled to be conducted on April 23 & 24, 2018. Paper 1 on the first day will conducted for Physics and Chemistry while Paper 2 on the second day will be conducted for Mathematics. Students preparing for this examination must be under immense pressure to perform and we have, therefore, listed down certain things that they can do to feel more confident about their preparation.

KEAM 2018 Rank List Released

The KEAM 2018 Rank List for admission to engineering, pharmacy, and allied courses offered by colleges in the state of Kerala has been released on 20th June 2018. KEAM rank list is prepared and released with names of the qualified candidates. A separate rank list for each course is released and it is prepared based on the marks scored in Paper I and Paper II.

KEAM 2018 Counselling Process

Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala conducts the counselling process for aspirants of KEAM. The KEAM 2018 counselling process will be conducted for the qualified candidates via online mode through Centralised Allotment Process (CAP),in the month of June 2018. Candidates must note that the selection of the candidates to participate in the counselling will be based on the ranks of the candidate. To check the KEAM 2018 result and rank, candidates can visit the official website of CEE. 

Registration is the first step for the participants of KEAM 2018 counselling process followed by document verification. During the counselling session, candidates will have to fill in their choice of courses and colleges. Based on the rank, category, filled choices and availability of seats in colleges, candidates will be allotted seats, and he/she will have to confirm their admission by document verification and payment of tuition fees.

In order to participate in the counselling rounds, candidates will have to register themselves for the KEAM 2018 counselling session by following the below process:

Step 1: KEAM 2018 Counselling Registration

  • Firstly, candidates will have to click on ‘KEAM 2018 Candidate Portal’ by using their KEAM 2018 Roll number and Application number.

  • Submit Key Number and Password after logging in.

Step 2: Selection of Courses and Colleges

  • After registering, a list of participating colleges and courses will be displayed on the screen, among which candidates will have to make the choices.

  • Candidates are advised to fill their preferences carefully as allotment of seats during KEAM counselling 2018 will be done accordingly.

Step 3: Review and Print Out

After filling the choices and submitting the choices, candidates will be able to review their selection. A print out of the filled options should be taken for future use.

KEAM 2018 Seat Allotment:

As a part of the counselling process, the seat allotment of the candidates will be done according to the merit of the candidate, his/her preferred college, course and availability of seat. For seat allotment purposes, candidates will have to pay the required fees at the CEE account in the specified branches of State Branch of Travancore (SBT) and will have to report at the allotted institute to confirm their admission.

KEAM admit card 2018 has been released by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) Kerala on 10th April 2018. How to Challenge KEAM Answer Key 2018

  • Candidates have an option to challenge the answer key of KEAM 2018 within 5 days of the release of the answer key, in case they find any discrepancy in the answer key of KEAM 2018.

  • Candidates will have to pay INR 100 (per question) through a demand draft drawn in favour of CEE, payable at Thiruvananthapuram in order to submit their objections. Additionally, they are required to send the hard copy of the objections/complaints by post.

  • After receiving all the objections/complaints, CEE committee will check all the objections and decide on releasing the final answer key and their decision in this regard will be considered final.

  • In case corrections are found in the answer key, the fee paid while filing the complaint against KEAM answer key 2018 will be returned to the candidates and the final answer key will be released.
