LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, started functioning in 2001, is the first women engineering college in the state, managed by LBS Centre for Science and Technology(LBSCST), Thiruvananthapuram. LBSCST, the premier institution of computer training/consultancy,was established by the Government of Kerala in 1976. The Centre is administered by a governing body and an executive committee. The Honourable Chief Minister is the Chairman of the governing body and the honorable minister for Education is the Vice-?Chairman.
LBSITW is the only engineering college for women in the Government sector in the state of Kerala. The Institute offers B.Tech programs in Electronics and Communication, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology & Civil Engineering and M.Tech programs in Signal Processing and Computer Science and Engineering.
The principal objective of the placement cell of LBSITW is to enhance employability of the students and to mould them to world class professional’s .The Placement cell of the college is working under the leadership of a Placement Officer supported by the faculty and student representatives. The Principal of the institution is the Chairman of this unit.
The cell puts in extra effort to bring reputed companies to the campus, helps a large number of students to secure employment. It also provides the latest information to the students to update their knowledge to face competitive exams and interviews. CGPU works as a part of Consortium of Government Engineering Colleges’ Placement unitsviz. those at Govt Engineering College, Bartonhill and Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering in conducting joint recruitment drives. The alumni of this institution occupy top position in business, industy, R&D and academia in India and abroad.
