    MCKV Institute of Engineering Overview

    Established in 1999, MCKV Institute of Engineering, also known as MCKVIE, is one of the best private colleges for engineering, located in Howrah, West Bengal. It is a NAAC Accredited “A” Grade Autonomous Institute. It is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as WBUT. MCKV is approved by AICTE and offers NBA-accredited engineering programmes.

    MCKV Institute of Engineering received the 'Best Institute for Promoting Industry-Academia Linkage Award' by ASSOCHAM at EduMeet 2021. An International MoU (Memorandum Of Understanding) has been signed between the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT), Australia, and MCKV Institute of Engineering, keeping in view a variety of joint academic and educational initiatives.

    MCKV Institute of Engineering courses are various. The institute offers bachelor's degree programmes, B.Voc degree programmes, and master's degree programmes. MCKVIE has launched three new B.Tech courses in CSE (Data Science), EC (VLSI Design), and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIandML), along with a PG course in the field of Management as an MBA (Business Analytics). MCKV Institute of Engineering admission is based on merit. 

    The MCKVIE campus includes separate hostels for boys and girls, a cafeteria, a Meditation Hall, Healthcare Unit, Language and Communication Lab, Central Library, Fitness Facilities, and even a Students’ Common Room. SVCPT – Swami Vivekanand Centre for "Positive Thinking" was inaugurated on 10th January 2011. It is the first such centre in West Bengal. It is dedicated to orienting the students, faculties and staff members of the college through teachings, life-giving thoughts, and the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda.

    On August 22, 2009, the school received The Telegraph School Award for Excellence in the categories of Best Maintained School and Social Service.

    In July 27,  2009, Smart Class technology was introduced as part of the various teaching methods used in the MCKV Institute of Engineering.

    B.Tech    

     Under this course, students get to choose among nine different specialisations. The entrance exams accepted are WBJEE/JEE (Main). Candidates must have completed class 12  with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Applications / Technical vocational subjects with pass marks (in both theory and practical, whichever is applicable) in all three subjects as stated above in regular class mode.

    Apart from that,  candidates must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in the case of SC, ST, OBC, and PwD) in all the three subjects taken together. In Class 12, candidates must have obtained at least 30% marks in English. The board of qualifying examination must be recognised either by the Central or State Government Both B.Sc  Candidates and Diploma holders in Engineering and Technology will also be eligible for admission to the first year of Engineering degree courses, subject to vacancies in the first year classes in case the vacancies as a lateral entry in the second year are exhausted. However, the admission shall be based strictly on the aforementioned eligibility criteria.     

     B.Tech (Lateral)

     B.Tech (Lateral) is available for (AUE, ME, ECE, EC-VLSI, CSE, CSE-DS, EE, and IT). Candidates must have a valid JELET Score. Diploma holder seeking admission into Engineering and Technology Degree Course - The candidate must pass Diploma in any branch from an institute approved by AICTE. The candidate must secure at least 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) marks or equivalent CGPA in diploma examination in relevant branch. 

    B.Sc 

     For B.Sc  Candidate, the upper age limit is 27. The candidate must pass B.Sc  Degree from any University recognised by UGC with at least 45% (40% for ST/SC/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD) marks.  Also, the candidate must have passed the class 12 examination with Mathematics as a subject. The candidate, if admitted, will have to clear the subjects of Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Graphics / Engineering Drawing of the first year degree course in Engineering / Technology along with his / her second-year subjects. B.Sc  candidates will be considered for admission only if vacancies remain even after filling the seats with available diploma holder candidates.   

    B.Voc  

       Direct admission is offered in the B.Voc courses. The vocational educational programme mainly focuses on job-specific skills rather than the board or council-based education. The main objective of this programme is to enable students to acquire skills and learn the fundamental technologies by engaging them in on-the-job training of the industry/organisations along with the theory classes in an academic scene. This programme has been initiated with the affiliation of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and with the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), MHRD, Government of India.      

    M.Tech    

    The candidate must be a B.E./B.Tech in ECE / AEIE / Control and Instrumentation Engg. or M.Sc in Electronics / Physics (with Electronics special) or the candidate should be an associate member of a Professional Body of Engineers recognised by the Govt. of India for admission to higher studies in Engineering.     

     MBA

    Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Statistics / Mathematics / Economics / Computer Sc. related subjects preferred) from a recognised University with a valid score in CAT / GMAT / MAT/ JEMAT / XAT is needed.     Rotaract Club – In the year 2010, the chairman of MCKV Group Rtn. Kishan Kumar Kejriwal and Prof. (Dr.) Arun Kr. Jalan (Dean-Student Affairs) formed the Rotaract Club of MCKVIE with the dual aim of serving humanity and professionally developing the member students.

    Technotica – MCKVIE has an in-house engineering and technology model development competition known as Technotica. This began in 2004. Students form a team and display their respective models.     Swami Vivekananda Scholarship

    • The Govt. of West Bengal introduces this scheme of giving scholarships at different levels of higher studies, at educational institutions based in West Bengal. Aspirants of UG(Engg.) with 60% in Class 12, PG (Engg.) with 55% marks in graduation, and other AICTE approved Professional Courses like MBA can avail this.
    • Scholarship Amount Available per month is Rs 5000. 

    Aikyashree

    • Merit Cum Means: This is for Meritorious Minority (Buddhist, Jain, Christian, Muslim, Parsee and Sikh) Students from the domicile of West Bengal to study in an Institute in West Bengal.
    • Students with a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying exam are eligible to apply.
    • Annual family income should be within 2.5 Lakhs per annum.

    Kanyashree Kanyashree’s one-time grant of Rs  25,000  is for girls who are between the ages of 18 and 19. Both the annual scholarship and the one-time grant are only for those girls who are:

    • Residents of West Bengal 
    • Enrolled and regularly attended an educational institution 
    • Unmarried 
    • From families where the total income is not more than Rs 1,20,000 per year.

    • Amount of scholarship: Tuition Fee of Rs 30,000 or at actual, whichever is less, and Rs 2000 per month for 10 months as incidentals charges each year.

    AICTE Swanath Scholarship 1) The candidate should be from any one of the following categories: (i) Orphan (ii) Either or both parents died due to Covid-19 (iii) Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)

    2) Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs 8 Lakh per annum during the financial year of the application. A valid income certificate issued by the State/UT Government is to be enclosed. 3) The candidate should be currently studying in the AICTE Approved institutions and courses at the Degree/ Diploma level in regular mode. There are two types of scholarship under AICTE Swanath Scholarship which are as follows :

    • AICTE–SWANATH scholarship scheme (technical diploma)
    • AICTE–SWANATH scholarship scheme (technical degree)

    Jindal Scholarship

    • Private Scholarship Scheme offered by Sitaram Jindal Foundation. Category-“E” is for the Engineering UG and PG Courses.
    • The monthly scholarship amount for UG men and women is Rs 2300 and Rs 2000 respectively. Also, monthly scholarship amounts for PG Boys and Girls are Rs 3200 and Rs 2800 respectively.
    • Eligibility criteria: Obtaining 65% for Boys and 60% for Girls respectively in the qualifying exams.
