The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur was established in 1976 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The institute is registered as an autonomous body under the department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, by the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958. The institute is affiliated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur and follows the syllabus and curriculum prescribed by the Central Council of Indian Medicine as adopted by the University. NIA, Jaipur is also accredited by NABH for various hospital services. Apart from this, the institute also has collaborations with various reputed national and international universities, organizations, and institutes. Some of the international collaborations include countries such as Malaysia, Korea, etc.
NIA Jaipur offers admission in various Ayurveda courses such as BAMS, MD/MS, Ph.D, DANP and Certificate Courses. The admission to the above stated courses depends upon the eligibility criteria as per the Institute norms. As far as the development of students is concerned, the institute organizes summer training programmes and industrial visits for the students. Also, it offers PDP programs for the overall development of students such as verbal communication skills, aptitude, group discussions, IQ/EQ development and interview techniques.
Infrastructural facilities at NIA, Jaipur are excellent such as a state-of-the-art library, hostel facilities for boys and girls, audio-video unit, auditorium, herbal centre, IT centre, manuscript unit and pharmacy for manufacturing many types of medicines.
When it comes to health care facilities, the institute has an NIA hospital block which consists of 300 beds. The hospital includes OPD and IPD facilities, panchakarma unit, central laboratory, primary emergency care unit, deluxe wards, cottage wards, cubical wards, general wards, operation theatres, consultation rooms, X-ray room, ECG room, sonography room, physiotherapy facility, etc.
