A good team violates the laws of mathematics. Here, the whole team is greater than sum of its parts and this signifies that team members are working in collaboration with each other. Have you ever watched a professional football game? Not a kid game but say Argentina-Brazil match. They are intense, they are fast, they are brutal and they are unpredictable. The players don't have helmets to protect them.
Indian Society for Technical education (ISTE), NIT Hamirpur has been proactively working to enrich its members with such much needed skills. We provide them with a variety of opportunities for their social and professional development. We strive to build camaraderie among students and offer them avenue for networking with students at other campuses and professional engineers likewise in a variety of skill enhancement settings.
Our management team consists of a highly motivated team of students working under the guidance of a faculty advisor. At ISTE we believe in the principles of being a mentor rather than a teacher, growing antennae not horns, praise and criticism, reigning in the rage, effective communication, vision, commitment and last but not the least a break after work (Science, they say, is yet to come up with a better invention than tea break).
At ISTE we believe in building people. Unlike the wild, where birds of a feather flock together, every student in a college is as different from other as chalk is from cheese. It is no mean task to forge a cohesive team comprising of assorted individuals with diverse and probably conflicting personality traits. At ISTE we strive to make it possible. Throughout the academic year, we organize a plethora of events to hone your technical as well as soft skills. You can be a part of this enriching voyage with us, either by being a volunteer in Team ISTE or by being its external member.

The genesis of the NCC can be traced back to the First World War when the Britishers created the University Corps as the second line of defense and to have a large pool of trained youth available for employment into the Armed Forces. The Naval Wing of the NCC was raised in Jul 1952, thus completing the true representation of all services in the Corps. Presently, NCC has approximately 13 Lakhs Cadets under its fold.NCC has been working in the institution since 1989 in its early state of Regional Engineering College with the view to create vibrant engineers for the service of nation and mankind. The National Cadet Corps had played a vital role in preparing many generations of our students in becoming responsible Indian citizens.
The National Service Scheme was started to establish a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community. Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, had recognized that the country could not progress in a desired direction until the student youth were motivated to work for the upliftment of the villages/community. For Gandhiji the villages, where majority of the population lived, represent the country i.e. India. Therefore, for the national reconstruction and national resurgence it was deemed fit that the students and teachers should be properly sensitized and utilized for strengthening the Indian society as a whole with particular emphasis on rural community. Therefore, student youth, teachers and the community are considered the three basic components of the National Service Scheme.
Students of NIT Hamirpur are voluntarily getting involved in the community services because of many reasons. Sometime there are unclean roadside verges, which need cleanliness. The labours staying with their families in the campus are involved in construction activities need someone to encourage them toward: children education, hygiene, etc. Many young school students in or around the campus need career guidance. The elderly people need someone to comfort and look after them. Such things in our campus or other communities have no end. We always assert that it’s the institute administration or government or charitable organizations job to work for the welfare of those who are in need.
Government, campus administration or charitable organizations have their own platforms to serve communities but we should also come forward to contribute in any possible way we can. Administration of NIT Hamirpur helps communities through its different programs. Students participation in the community services scheme has reminded that there are more important things in the real world along with attending the classes or passing the exams. We don’t wish to highlight our own troubles which we face in the campus or outside because other might have different kinds of problems, which may be more serious than ours. Following are the example of community service we have started:
