Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati Placement Policy
IIT Guwahati’s Centre for Career Development works year-round to place graduates in promising positions in various verticals and companies.
Those who are placed are those that obtain PPO through the on-campus internship process and accept it within the specified time frame. These students will not be included in the final placement process and will not be required to register for it.
Those who refuse the PPO are eligible to participate in the final placement process and will be placed in the general pool. Furthermore, if a candidate rejects a company's PPO, he or she is not permitted to participate in the company's placement process.

Students who have studied IT/ Software can be placed as Software Development Engineer, Member Technical, Staff, Design, RandD, Developers, IBSO, or Data Science. Students studying Finance can be placed as Quant, Algorithmic Trader. There are also several Non-Tech Profiles like Business Analyst, Associate Product Manager, and Marketing Manager. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati CCD's internship offerings are limited to industrial internships. Internship opportunities for IIT Guwahati students during the 6th and 7th semesters for B.Tech/B.Des students and the 2nd and 3rd semesters for M.Sc/MA students will be governed by the following norms and regulations:
After their sophomore year and third year, students complete a 10- to a 12-week summer internship in corporate sectors and academic institutions in India and overseas, where they apply theoretical classroom knowledge in the real world. The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati internships gives students a tremendous amount of experience, preparing them for the professional world.
Before being considered for internship activities (in India or abroad), any student who wishes to participate in the internship activities must sign an undertaking (a declaration form) within the first four weeks of the fifth semester for B.Tech./B.Des students and the second semester for M.Sc/MA students. This form must be filed through the departments' appropriate Faculty I/C of Placement.
Students must specify whether they want academic or industrial internships while registering for internships. If accepted for both, students who prefer academic internships will be able to quit their industrial internships. When a student accepts an academic internship offer after previously indicating a preference for an academic internship, he or she must notify CCD within one week of receiving the offer and must decline all other offers (industrial). Others who have only filled out the industrial internship option will not be able to apply for an academic internship.

So far, the placement situation at IIT Guwahati for the academic year 2020-21 has been favourable. A total of 160 companies/organisations from various sectors (such as IT, RandD, Core Engineering, Consulting, Analytics, Finance, Oil and Gas, Conglomerate, Education Management, Health Care, etc.) and categories (such as private, MNC (Indian origin and foreign origin), Govt., PSU, NGO, etc.) participated in the recruitment process.
Overall, over 77.91 per cent of B. Tech and B. Des students were placed at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati 2021 placements. To date, 584 students enrolled in B. Tech and B. Des have been offered 453 positions (including PPO). Companies from a variety of industries also participated in the internship recruiting for pre-final year students, resulting in a total of 263 industrial offers in 2020-21. (Indian offer).

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has started phase 1 of the placement report for the 2020 batch, where a total of 80 strong offers have been made to the students. Many industry giants like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, American Express, Oracle, Bajaj, Google, and many other multinational organisations.
This year, the first phase of the placement process has witnessed the registration of a total of 250 companies that will be taking part in the placement report for the 2020 batch. This is an impressive improvement over the number of companies that had visited the campus last year, which had been 200 for the whole placement process. A total of 1,060 students have registered themselves for the IIT-G placement for the 2020 batch.
The sharp increase in the number of companies that have registered themselves for the 2020 placement process at IIT Guwahati means that many companies will be recruiting IIT-G students for the first time. Among such companies include, Atlassian, Accenture Japan, Quadeye Securities, Analog Device, Human Resocia, and many more, who took part in the placement drive.
Some of the profiles that have been majorly offered to the IITG students at the include sectors such as Information Technology, Finance, Management, Analyst, Design as well as Core Sectors. This year, the institute has also seen profiles in the sector of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning too.
The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has also witnessed a total of 119 pre-placement offers made to the students. Last year, the institute saw 100 PPOs made in favour of the IITG students during the placement process. These offers had been brought up by companies such as NVIDIA, IBM, Uber, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, etc. The Institute is also expected to witness participation from 3 PSUs as well like GAIL, POSCO, and BEL, in the IIT-G Placements 2020.

IIT Guwahati placements 2018-19 commenced on Day one. So far, reputed international firms offered lucrative jobs to students with attractive salary packages. So far, Microsoft and Uber offered the best placement offer to IIT Guwahati students. Uber and Microsoft made the best offer, and the annual salary offered was Rs 1.51 crore and Rs 1.06 crore respectively.
As far as domestic placements at IIT Guwahati 2018-19 are concerned, the highest salary offered was Rs 44 lakh per annum by Tower Research. So far, 65% of students have secured jobs in campus placements.
This year, 958 students registered for campus placements, out of which 454 students have secured jobs by Day three of IIT Guwahati placements 2018-19.
IIT Guwahati placements 2018-19 started with a bang. On Day one, 200 students secured job offers in top companies. Some of the top recruiters were OLA, Myntra, EXL, Barclays, SAP Labs, Sprinklr, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Intel and Microsoft.

IIT Guwahati successfully completed its first phase of the placement process. Various Participants from various IT giants like Microsoft and Oracle participated in the placement process. These companies rolled out the highest international packages i.e. USD 136,000 (Rs 93 lakh) and USD 135,000 (Rs 92 lakh approx.).
Tower Research participated for the first time in the placement process and rolled out the highest domestic salary package for 2017. Tower Research offer a package of Rs. 36 Lakh on its first visit to the campus.
The institute reported that 50% of the students who had enrolled for the campus placements were recruited by various reputed firms. Over a thousand students had enrolled at the Centre for Career Development (CCD), IIT Guwahati for the placement.
