Rajarambapu Institute of Technology Admission Process 2026

RIT Islampur admission criteria vary across programmes including B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and Diploma, but the overall admission process is conducted through the DTE Maharashtra Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Candidates are required to participate in the CAP for admission, as there is no separate RIT application form or institute-level entrance examination. The same centralized counselling process applies to all courses, while specific eligibility requirements and procedural steps may vary depending on the selected programme.

Step 1: Appear for the Relevant Entrance Exam

Your first step depends on which course you're applying for:

  • B.Tech: Appear for MHT-CET 2026 (Session 1 or Session 2) or JEE Main 2026 and secure a non-zero percentile. Both scores are accepted — you don't need to appear for both.
  • M.Tech: Obtain a valid GATE 2026 or GATE 2025 score in the relevant discipline — CE for Civil branches, CS for Computer Science, EE/EC for Electronics and Power, ME for Mechanical.
  • MBA: Appear for MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2026 (Sessions 1 and 2 both accepted), or carry a valid CAT 2025, CMAT 2026, or MAT 2026 score.
  • Diploma: No entrance exam. Admission is based on SSC (Class 10) marks. You need at least 35% aggregate from a recognised board.

Step 2: Check Results

MHT-CET 2026 results are expected in June 2026 on cetcell.mahacet.org. GATE, CAT, CMAT, and MAT results follow their own calendars — check the respective official websites. You cannot register for CAP until the results are declared.

Step 3: Register for CAP on cetcell.mahacet.org

After results are out, the CAP registration window opens — tentatively June/July 2026. Registration is mandatory. Late registrations are not accepted.

  • Go to cetcell.mahacet.org and click on the relevant CAP link for your course (Engineering CAP for B.Tech, M.Tech CAP, MBA CAP, or Diploma CAP).
  • Create a login with your mobile number and email. Keep these active throughout the process — all OTPs and allotment notifications come here.
  • Pay the CAP registration fee online: INR 800 for Open category; INR 600 for Reserved categories and PwD applicants from Maharashtra. Diploma applicants: check the DTE Maharashtra portal for updated fee amounts.
  • Download and save your CAP registration confirmation. You'll need the registration number for all future steps.

Step 4: Document Verification (e-Scrutiny or Physical)

Document verification must be completed before you can fill choices. This is a hard gate — unverified documents = no seat allotment.

  • Online (e-Scrutiny): Upload scanned copies of all required documents directly on the portal. This is the default mode for most students.
  • Physical scrutiny: If required or preferred, visit a DTE-designated facilitation centre. Check the portal for the centre nearest to you.
  • Get this done early. The facilitation centres get crowded close to the deadline and the portal slows down. A 2-3 day buffer is safe.

Step 5: Fill College and Branch Preferences (Option Form)

After verification, you get access to the online option form — this is where you list your college and branch preferences in order of priority.

  • Search for Rajarambapu Institute of Technology (RIT), Islampur in the college list and add it to your preferences.
  • Select your preferred branch or specialisation. RIT offers B.Tech in 11+ branches, M.Tech in 7 specialisations, and MBA with specific specialisations.
  • List preferences in descending order of preference — your top choice first. You can add as many options as you want.
  • The portal allows modifications until the choice-filling deadline. Revise your list until the last moment if needed — the final saved list at deadline is what counts.

Step 6: Check Seat Allotment Results

CAP seat allotment typically happens in 3–4 rounds. After each round, log in to check your allotment status. If you're allotted a seat at RIT, you have three options:

  • Freeze: Accept the allotted seat, withdraw from further rounds, and proceed to reporting at RIT. Choose this if you're satisfied with what you got.
  • Float: Retain your current allotment AND participate in the next round for a possible upgrade to a higher preference. Your current seat is held — you don't lose it if the upgrade doesn't come through.
  • Slide: Accept only if a better branch at the same college (RIT) becomes available. Useful if you want a specific branch at RIT but got a lower-preference branch.

If you didn't get RIT in Round 1, don't panic. Participate in Rounds 2, 3, and 4. Seats get freed up as students freeze elsewhere.

Step 7: Report to Rajarambapu Institute of Technology and Confirm Admission

Once allotted a seat and you choose Freeze (or your Float/Slide results in a final allotment), report to RIT Islampur within the stipulated deadline — usually within 2 working days of allotment. Missing this deadline forfeits your seat with no recourse.

  • Carry original documents and one set of attested photocopies for each.
  • Pay the first-year fees at the college: B.Tech — INR 1,65,500 (Open category); M.Tech — as per DTE notified fees; MBA — INR 1,19,710; Diploma — INR 57,145.
  • Fees are typically accepted by DD or online transfer. Confirm the accepted modes with RIT before reporting.
  • Collect your provisional admission letter and fee receipt. Keep both safely — you'll need them for all future verification at the college.
