Overview

Ranked 5th in the list of peaceful countries in the world, Denmark covers a 42,933 km² territory with 58.1 lakh inhabitants. With popular cities like Berlin, London and Paris only a few hours away, Denmark is the gateway to other Scandinavian countries including Sweden and Norway and also the rest of Europe.

Denmark also ranks 5th globally in the GTCI (Global Talent Competitiveness Index) Report 2020, a report based primarily on policies, resources and efforts on the one hand and vocational and global knowledge skills on the other. Of the 8 universities in Denmark, seven are featured in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021.

Universities in Denmark offer more than 600 PhD, Master's, Bachelor's or Academy Profession degree programmes and 1,300 courses taught in English. The teaching-learning process in the country can be described as world-class, innovation-driven and a combination of traditional lectures and industrial collaborations. Areas such as life sciences, social science, engineering and information technology (IT), with their high degree of potential to bring about solutions to real-world problems, have become the most popular courses among international students.

Besides offering a platform to gain an international profile through education at Danish institutions, Denmark is also a remarkable place to live. An amalgam of modern sustainable architecture and traditional buildings, a clean environment, the Danish on bikes, mild climate, a safe and a balanced society, among others, mark the beauty and distinctiveness of Denmark.

Furthermore, the country also collaborates with businesses, global higher education and public research institutions and science parks to meet the needs of an international labour market. Taught by experts who are also part-time researchers, education at Danish universities ensure up-to-date academic knowledge and hands-on perspective. Many programmes also comprise credit-earning internships, paving way for opportunity to gain valuable work experience.

Denmark spends more than 520 million kroner every year on grants for foreign students. An International survey revealed that 64 percent of overseas students in the country aim to work in the country, 43 percent of foreign students wish to continue living in Denmark, and only 3 percent plan on returning home.
