Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal confirmed that the government would be providing free tablets for students pursuing Class 10 & 12 from the upcoming academic session.

Free tablets to all students pursuing Class 10 & 12 in Haryana will be provided soon, confirms Education Minister of Haryana - Kanwar Pal. The announcement was made during the ongoing budget session of Haryana on March 7, 2022. In response to a question, the Minister confirmed that the government would be buying five lakh tablets which will be given to students entering into Class 10 & 12 during the upcoming academic session. The minister further confirmed that the government would be spending around 620 crores to buy these tablets.
Adding further, Kanwar Lal confirmed that the tablets that would be given to students will have preloaded content and personalized and adaptive learning software. Free data to access the internet will also be provided to students, and the distribution of tablets is expected to begin in May.

The minister further added that the tablets will help students studying in government schools to bridge the gap in digital education. Those students who are from economically weaker sections and were not able to buy smartphones can make use of these tablets to access the digital learning resources. The tablets will have different digital learning resources such as e-books, study materials, test videos, books related to the syllabus of Class 10 & 12 and much more.

As the Covid-19 pandemic increased the scope for digital learning, the digital learning resources provided to students through these laptops would be helpful.
