Kerala University of Health Sciences to Accredit 304 Colleges under it

After many complaints were received from the students and their parents, the Kerala University of Health Sciences has taken a step to accredit the self-financing colleges under the University for better monitoring of infrastructural requirements. The University has proposed to give accreditation to 304 colleges of different streams for bringing them under quality standards.

The Vice-chancellor of Kerala University of Health Sciences, Dr. M. K. C. Nair told the media that with the approval of the governing councils of the colleges, the proposal has been passed and all formalities were completed. He also added that the colleges will be accredited in A, B, and C categories. Few colleges are on the list to be accredited in the next 6 months. All colleges are being given training for the accreditation process.

The Vice-Chancellor KUHC suggested to all the government and private colleges under the university to update their infrastructure.

The University has been receiving a lot of complaint letters from the parents of students as well as the staff on the poor infrastructure of the colleges. A major common point of complaints made is on the poor hostel facilities in the colleges. The complaints are more in number on the self-financing colleges. A committee has been formed recently by the University to study the issue. The committee has already completed making the final draft of the infrastructural guidelines. These aspects are expected to be taken care of in the accreditation process.
