Students who have already enrolled for the PG courses offered by the University of Mumbai are nervous as the varsity has not yet commenced the classes for the new academic session. So to say, it is evident that almost one semester has been wasted due to the results mess. Mumbai University has once again extended the deadline for the admission to PG courses until September 25, 2017, as results of many courses and students are still not out.

The varsity has notified the affiliated colleges regarding the extension of admission dates. The delay in announcing final year UG results by Mumbai University is to be blamed for obstructing the admission process for PG courses. The first semester is almost nearing its completion and there is not enough time to complete the syllabus of the first semester even if the varsity begins the academic session now. All affiliated colleges will be shut down for few days in October on account of Diwali. After the vacation, there will be only two weeks left for the completion of the first semester.

The original deadline for the PG admissions was August 21, 2017. Later, the varsity extended the dates twice causing further delay in beginning the academic session. The Principal of one of the renowned colleges affiliated to Mumbai University indicated that the varsity must allow the colleges to admit the students provisionally and begin the classes. The varsity is merely wasting the time by deferring the admission dates, he added.
The varsity lacks clarity on the exact date of announcement of all the pending results. On the other hand, the varsity is yet to trace over 28,000 answer sheets.
