Kabardino Balkarian State University (KBSU) was founded in 1957 by the decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR and is named after V.I. H.M. Berbekov. KBSU is a government university located in Grozny city of Russia. In 2002, KBSU was included in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities as the State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education. Later in 2011, KBSU was included in the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education (list of 44 universities included in U-Multirank for Russian Federation). Kabardino Balkarian State University is one of the leading universities in Russia. In 2014, KBSU entered the list of top 100 international rankings of universities of the CIS countries and rankings as compiled by Expert agencies and Interfax.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
Over the decades, KBSU has seen major structural and administrative changes to become a modern centre of education, science, innovation and culture. KBSU offers a wide range of courses in different areas of studies like Medicine, informatics, electronics and robotics, law, economics and finance, physics and mathematics, chemistry and biology etc. All these courses are offered under 10 institutions of KBSU. The medical course offered at KBSU is conducted under the Faculty of Medicine. Currently, the research work at KBSU is conducted at all the educational and scientific departments and is conducted under the supervision of 133 doctors, 450 candidates of sciences, 5 honoured scientists of the Russian Federation, 49 honoured scientists of the KBR, 156 postgraduate students of the OFO and 26 foreign graduate students, full members of RAS, 2 members Correspondent of RAS, 2 laureates of the Prize -The Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technicians and 1 academician of the Russian Academy of Education

Some of the prominent alumni of KBSU include Asanov Alim Orusbievich- Deputy Minister of Health of the KBR, Afashagov Mikhail Galimovich- Minister of Construction of the KBR (2008-2010). Member of the Parliament of the KBR, Irina Sergeevna Beznikova- Chairman of the State Committee of the KBR for Energy, Tariffs and Housing Supervision etc.

Kabardino Balkarian State University accepts admissions of students from around the world and as per the record of the university, KBSU has seen a rise in the number of international students enrolled in the 2015- 2019 time period. The number of student enrollment increased from 553 to 1767 which is a 10.5 % increase from the year 2015 to 2019. The strong collaboration of KBSU with industries, companies and the successful implementation of the socio-cultural mission enhanced the employment opportunities of graduates of the university.
