South Asian University accepts CUET scores for admission. For 2024 UG admission, CUET UG will be conducted from May 15 to May 21 by NTA. On the other hand, for South Asian University PG admission, the NTA will conduct the CUET PG exam from March 11 to March 28, 2024. 

The university is an international university established by the 8 member countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC).  The South Asian University course admissions are offered at the postgraduate and PhD levels. The courses are offered in streams like Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, International Relations, Law, and, Sociology. 

Admission to the postgraduate courses and PhD courses is based on an entrance test conducted by the university itself. The university has 5 faculties which include Mathematics and Computer Science, Economics, Legal Studies, Life Sciences and Biotechnology, and, Social Sciences. It is also approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The South Asian University ranking is 94th in the ‘Overall Percentile’ category and 90th in the ‘Research Percentile’ category by the Scimago Institutions Rankings. The university has recently shifted to its permanent campus which is located in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi.

The South Asian University admission 2023 for all the postgraduate and PhD courses is currently ongoing. The last date to apply for all courses at the university is March 31, 2023. Further, the university conducts its own entrance test for admission to various courses. The entrance test will be conducted in a course-wise manner in different slots and centres on April 29, 2023, and, April 30, 2023. The admission allocations at the university are expected to end on July 26, 2023, without a late fee payment and on August 14, 2023, with a late fee payment. The application process for the South Asian University is held in an online mode. Presently, the admissions for the 2023 session are open and the application process will end on March 31, 2023. The detailed South Asian University admission process is mentioned below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of the university which is sau.int.

Step 2: On the home page of this site, click on the ‘Admissions’ tab.

Step 3: A new page will open which will have all the information related to the admission process.

Step 4: Click on ‘Apply Now’ on this page. This will be present on the lower left margin of the page.

Step 5: Once you click on ‘Apply Now’, you will be directed to another page.

Step 6: On the end of this page, an option will appear to start the application. Select whether you are a fresh applicant or are already registered. Also, select whether you are from a SAARC country or a Non-SAARC country. 

Step 7: Fill in all the subsequent fields like course, personal details, address, and, passport details (if applicable). 

Step 8: Click on ‘I am not a robot’ and then ‘Register’.

Step 9: Once registered successfully, log in again to the South Asian University admission login and fill out the detailed application form. 

Step 10: Attach the scanned copies of all documents in the prescribed format and size only.

Step 11: Pay the application fee/entrance test fee of Rs 800. The following documents will be needed at the time of application:

• Passport size photograph
• Scanned signature
• Photo ID issued by a government authority
• Class 10 mark sheets
• Class 12 mark sheets
• Graduation mark sheets
• Educational certificates
• Short CV (optional)

Note: Once the candidate has successfully registered, he/she must appear for the university entrance test as per the schedule of the selected course.

SAARC India Silver Jubilee Scholarships for Masters and PhD Programmes

This scholarship scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Government of India. This scholarship is awarded to meritorious students from external countries and who are pursuing masters or doctoral degrees. The candidates must be from any one of the following countries to avail of this scholarship:

• Afghanistan
• Bhutan
• Nepal
• Maldives
• Bangladesh

A total of 75 scholarships are preserved for the postgraduate students under this scheme and these are awarded on the basis of merit of the students. 

President’s Scholarships (For MA/M.Sc/LLM)

This scholarship is provided for 2 years and is renewed in the second year subject to the performance of the candidates. Under this scheme of South Asian University scholarships, 2 scholarships are provided to each of the following categories of the MA, M.Sc, and, LLM students:

• The candidate scoring the highest marks in the Entrance Test from the Indian List
• The candidate scoring the highest marks in the Entrance Test from the Non-Indian List

SAU Merit Scholarships (For MA/M.Sc/LLM)

As per this scheme, 2 scholarships are awarded for each of the 3 courses, MA, M.Sc, and, LLM. They are awarded based on the following criteria:

• Based on the scores of the entrance test, the top 2 students from the merit list will be offered this scholarship from the Indian category and excluding the President scholarship holders.
• Based on the entrance test, the top 2 candidates from the final merit list will be awarded this scholarship excluding the President and SJS scholarship holders.
