Auburn University was founded in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College. It was renamed as Auburn University 1960. The university is situated in Auburn, Alabama province of the United States. Auburn university campus spreads in 1,841 acres and hosts 206 academic buildings. Auburn University has its academic affiliations registered under APLU ORAU SURA ACES. The university is also ranked among the Kiplingers “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” and has been reviewed as the best value college by the Princeton Review 2020 for its quality education. Not only this, but Auburn University has also got the R1 designation by The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, enlisting it among one of the research-active doctoral universities in the U.S.

COVID-19 Response

Auburn has entered Phase 3 of Vaccination Distribution Plan come up with the 'A Healthier U' initiative to ensure a safe and healthy return to campus. As part of the same, all students, staff and faculty will have to complete a daily health check screener for COVID-19 symptoms. The comprehensive plans for operations, academics and students can be found in detail below:

  • In collaboration with state public health officials, Auburn University continues to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to the students, staff and officials on campus.

  • The CDC has recommended international students delay travel until they are fully vaccinated - 2 weeks after their second dose.

  • The Office of Accessibility continues to assist students with Covid-19 related concerns and their participation in on-campus classes. The office cannot guarantee if all courses could be converted to online/offline classes. It would be considered on individual basis.

  • Auburn has planned for the safe return of students to on-campus learning and working while following COvid-19 guidelines.

  • For Fall 2021, the university plans a full in-person and on-campus academic and university experience.

Merit Scholarships

Merit Scholarships, renewable after four years, are awarded only to freshmen enrolling in summer or fall immediately after high school graduation. Students will be considered for merit scholarships at Auburn based on an overall review of the admission application by Undergraduate Admissions along with the information provided on the scholarship application through the AUSOM. Only the highest composite ACT score or total SAT score from a single test date will be used to grant merit scholarships.

Departmental Scholarships

At Auburn, Departmental Scholarships are awarded by its 12 colleges and schools. Criteria shall vary from programme to programme and may not be limited to academic major,  academic achievement, geographic location or financial need. Departmental Scholarships may be granted beginning in January to incoming freshmen.
