Ulyanovsk State University is a public university situated in Ulyanovsk, Russia. It was initially founded in 1988 as part of Moscow State University by the Government of the Soviet Union was later reorganised to form Ulyanovsk State University in 1996. Today, Ulyanovsk State University is one of the largest universities in Ulyanovsk. It is accredited by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and is affiliated with the Moscow State University. QS EECA University Rankings ranked the Ulyanovsk State University (USU) within the band of 231-240. In 2017, the university won the competition of Russian Federation's Ministry of Education and Science which granted it the status of the Basic University of the Ulyanovsk Region.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Being one of the largest universities in the Volga reguon, USU is a modern educational complex with well-developed infrastructure for scientific and innovative research. This includes four educational institutes, eight independent faculties, two international educational structures, among others. Currently, it offers specialty, bachelor's, master's, secondary vocational education, residency programs as well as additional education for children and adults, which amounts to 77 majors, 76 postgraduate, 37 medical internship and medical residency programs. The MBBS course offered by USU is globally recognised as it is approved by the WHO, NMC, the US Department of Education and FAIMER.

The Ulyanovsk State University community comprises over 40,000 young sucessful specialists currently living and working across the world. They have achieved recognition not only because of their high professionalism in their field but also because of their innovative thinking and active participation in the community. The scientific, innovative and research-oriented programmes offered at USU are carried out under the guidance of highly-qualified and experienced scientists, researchers and doctors. Some of the notable alumni of USU include Marina Bespalova, Svetlana Soluianova, Viktoriya Poltorak, Alexey Kurinny and Lubov Yevgenyevna Abanina.

Ulyanovsk State University enrolls more than 13,000 students, among which over 2,000 students are from Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and South America. Between 1992 and 2020, the university produced more than 60,000 professionals who currently play an important role not just in the Russian global market but also in the global market. The public research university comprises an Alumni Employment Promotion Centre that helps USU graduates find employment by conducting faculty meetings with employers; alumni and vacancies fairs; face-to-face consulations on preparation of CVs, cover letters, personal career plan; psychological trainings as well as offering internship opportunities.
