History, Affiliations and Rankings 

Indiana State University (ISU) is a public institution that was founded in 1865 and is located in Terre Haute, about 70 miles southwest of Indianapolis. Indiana State University has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) since 1915. ISU is listed by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as a Doctoral/Research University. Indiana State University is positioned #293-#381 in National Universities by the US News 2020 edition.

Infrastructure, Campus and Courses 

ISU is an open research college which is spread across 435 acres. The university comprises six colleges and departments - College of Arts and Science, College of Business, communication, College of Graduate and Professional Studies, College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services, College of Technology. The university awards bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees. Students may also pursue one of several pre-professional programs. The most popular majors at Indiana State University include Health Professions and Related Programs; Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Engineering Technologies and Engineering-Related Fields; Social Sciences; and Parks, Recreation, Leisure, and Fitness Studies.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

The Terre Haute Innovation Alliance is a cooperation between the City of Terre Haute, the Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation, Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.  The Alliance administers assistance to companies in the method of improving or expanding their products while engaging students in hands-on projects and creating jobs for the local economy. The creation of the Terre Haute Innovation Alliance was commenced with $500,000 in federal support earned with assistance from Indiana Senators Evan Bayh and Richard Lugar, and has drawn over $1.5 million in grants to promote entrepreneurial activities in Terre Haute. Also, ISU Business School is viewed as extraordinary compared to other business colleges in the nation. Gerry Dick, host of Inside Indiana Business, Tony George, founder, and team owner, Indy Racing League, Jim Lewis, President, Disney Vacation Club, Bill Lister, Senior VP and GM, Roche Diagnostics, Will Weng, journalist, New York Times are some of the notable alumni of ISU.

Student Diversity and Visiting companies  

ISU rank Indiana State University #840 in the nation for student age diversity. With 693 students in 2018, the international students made about 5% of the student body making it one of the preferred destinations for international students. The career fairs conducted here provide employers with direct contact with talented Sycamore students for internship and professional employment opportunities with companies like Merill Lynch, Roche, Salesforce,  Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, etc.
