COVID-19 Response

The University of Kansas has been developing plans to reopen its campus for the fall semester. It is all set to welcome back all students with the Protect KU plan in place. Along with the latest information on COVID-19, the plan also gives a gist of decisions, guidelines and procedures to reopen the campus whilst ensuring the safety of KU students, faculty and staff and reducing the risk of spreading the virus. Addressing concerns related to COVID-19, the university has taken the following steps:

  • Lawrence and Edwards campus will operate in Fall 2021 with all safety measures in place. The university has instructed its staff to transition majority of its classes to in-person delivery.

  • Both the campuses will move to Level 2 on the continuum of operational states, which means one may expect larger events and more employees on campus.

  • Freshmen can apply to join the College Online Freshman Bridge Program to take all their classes online and later transition to campus when they are ready.

  • Regardless of vaccination status, those with Covid-19 symptoms should wear a mask on campus.

  • The CDC has said that people who are vaccinated for Covid-19 can resume activities on campus without wearing masks or physically distancing.

  • KU Housing continues to stay in touch with students who have a contract to live on campus during the 2021-22 academic year.
